2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: The journey home
Image: Milo playing with his present: The Austin Alligator. I wanted something relevant to Texas and as I had photographed an alligator in the wild at Brazoria Wildlife Reserve in 2012 this one seemed appropriate, and it squeaks too.
Audio: Grimethorpe Colliery Band Playing Jerusalem, ideal for my final flight and drive across the Pennines to my beloved Yorkshire and home.
The relevance of t...

2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: McAllen to Austin
Image: Clark removes the colonial flag as I depart thus notifying neighbours his English guest is no longer in residence. I had a great time and was sad to go.
Audio: Clark is playing on piano, his very own variation of Pachelbel's Canon one of the best I have ever heard.

2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: Austin to McAllen
Image: The original flag when America was a colony, flown outside my friend Clarks house, he always flys it in honour of an English guest, I was honoured to be one such guest. A lover of the Royal Family he often flys the Royal Standard for stae occsions such as the Queen birthday. A highlight of one of his trips to London was when watching Princess Ann pass by in a carriage she waved to him.

2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: Austin 2
Image: My third car some one hit my second one whilst it was parked, I noticed it the day after I got back from Lamesa. The first two cars were both light coloured. This one I got back ok, maybe I should ask for a red one next time. For some reason the darker the car the less trouble I seem to have.

Once more I did my rhyme

2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: Lamesa to Austin
Image: Budget Host motel car park, just before sunrise, the car is loaded, after taking this picture I was away. It's always a beautiful part of the day, so quiet.
23.04.2017 - 117) The sun’s still down,
I’m leavin’ Lamesa town
But the East horizon hue tells me sun up’s nearly due
An’ I know I’ve a fair way to go
So no hesitation, gentle acceleration to reach the speed I need

Image: Texas humour, well West Texas anyway, I was sat with David aka Ben, Bob and Regina a local journalist having ameal at the Senior Citizens Centre when we were approached by a local character known as an ecentric. He asked if any of us had a "diamond pin", we said no, he offered us one, somewhat perplexed we said "yes please" the result was the attached play on words "dime and pin" and Lames...

2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: Austin to Lamesa
Image: One of the reasons for making an early start, nice clear roads, this is the road between Llano and Mason, I should have turned of it for Brady but turning right in Mason led me to Brady and it was only a matter of a few minutes difference. Speed limit is 75, as can be seen in the poem, because it's quiet there is the choice of making progress or enjoying the scenery.

Image: Haiku event at The Full English, an Austin cafe based on a cafe in Bradford which sells food cooked English style, Fish and Chips and Full English breakfasts. They've also got HP sauce and English malt vinegar, one of the few places I don't have to take mine. It is also rapidly making its name as a great open mic venue. I'm reciting a haiku about one of their lamb pasties, written on the s...

Image: Just outside Austin Airport Terminal making my way to collect my hire car, minus my suitcase which would arrive the following day
01.04.2017 - 13)
I rise, wash, dress, downstairs I’m bound
Trying not to make a sound,
Cup of coffee to bring me round
Then while family and Milo are sleeping, out of the house I’m creeping
Like a thief in the night, for the taxi to the air...

Image: Our new addition Milo another Boston Terrier enjoying a sleep as in poem 5, not to replace Louie but as a pet in his own right. Poem 5 was also my first of 2017. This will be the third blog in a row that has featured a Boston Terrier as the "Run up" image
