Cynthia Buell Thomas! Where are you? Do you realise I have a HUGE clear platic bag full of constant mutterings and jibberjabble? For that I thank you. I may send them to you and see if you can decipher the constant rambling of a feeble and harrid mind :-)

How are you my lovely? I have been integrating myself back into the heady realms and striving to keep a low profile, but I have finally got to face the fact that I always have too much to say.

My final addition to the family has the unfortunate affliction of being a mini-me.

I hope you are well? I will be in and out of WOL on a regular basis now I have 2 whole hours a day to spare to put my constant rudimentary ramblings into some form or shape.

Love to you.Nicky x

Hello again :) Shy my arse ;p Good to see you again.

Re 'Purple' - I'm sorry you bristled on the dementia line. It is not intended to offend, obviously. My maternal grandmother died of Alzheimer's after 10 years of suffering with it, so it's always been there in my mind. I've long thought that I'd end up with it, so to pretend to have it in order to fund some luxury by stealing from the corporates just tickled me a bit and cheers me up about it. It still is a genuine plan too - I know I will be living in poverty if I get to pensionable age, I have no assets, I'll never pay the mortgage off, and I come from a long line of poor people, so this seems like a nicely rebellious act for when I'm old and vulnerable.

Yep, you were spot-on re 'homegrown green' ;)

Hi Cynthia

I hope you're well - really missing your presence on here.

Just a quick line to say a big thank you for introducing me to the diamante form a few months back. If you remember, I wrote 2 experiments with it, and I have just heard that Haunted Waters Press have accepted the Scar one for online publication! So thank you again, and I really hope I'll see you around here again at some point.

Take good care

Thanks for your comments on 100 Metres and Us Nolimpics
I had fun with the dialect - I had a strong image in my mind of a scruffy, young, chubby-faced lad trying to talk his way out of trouble with injured innocence.

Hi Cynthia and thanks for your message and for having a read of TDB and commenting on it. The poems are quite complex which is probably down to the metaphors but it was intended that the images would speak for themselves. Interpretation is a beautifully intimate thing and books mean different things or suggest different things to people and I always admired your evaluations and comments on poems. Let me know in your own time what you think and be honest as you like. Yours Ant

Thank you for your comments on "Surreal" Cynthia. I just needed to get my thoughts down, and here seemed to be as good a place as any.

I know what you mean about having to study and work hard to attain a certain level of sympathy as that did not come so naturally to me either.

Thanks again.

Hi Cynthia. Unfortunately this is true. I posted "Non Traditional Haiku about my Poem" because my daughter says the first Poem "Haiku about a Stolen Poem" was worded a little strongly.
I contacted the websites administrator and told him I don't have a problem with anyone posting my poetry, I just ask that I receive proper credit. He removed the poem.

Thanks for your comment

CBT, Hi,
ref Dinner Date, or should that be: 'Inner Date' one never knows! you alone have delved into the thoughts behind this one. I usually expose the insipid mush but this was a fling, and yes, you triumphed! Well played, for seeing the truth inside this shallow piece of 'deception' in that I kept it simple to please the audience. I shall now be your most gracious 'watcher' Please, please me more! ta muchly, Nick.

Hi Cynthia,
Thanks for your comments on 'A Cup'. I hadn't thought of it as a politcal statement but I see what you mean. It was actually the result of a challenge in a poetry group I belonged to to write a poem about a cup. Being me with my contrary streak I thought of 'bra size' not 'drinking vessel'.
I do , however, deplore the trend for folks to need to appear to have the perfect body or whatever fashion dictates this year. I think that the only statement this really makes of the need to conform is "I am a sheep!" - Not for me!

Hi Cynthia, thanks for taking such an interest in The River. The poem is a mix of the public and the private; my father died the day after the Marchioness disaster on the Thames, and my wife saw the helicopters from the train as she travelled down to join us at his hospital bedside. The later Thatcher years seemed to be associated with disasters: football ones (Bradford, Heysel, Hillsborough) marine ones (Piper Alpha, Zeebrugge, and the Marchioness). The lanterns luring the unwary onto rocks is really the idea that so many were drawn into buying into the loadsamoney, get-rich-quick dream of those years. Maybe my father worrying about paying the doctor's bills reflected a gut fear that the NHS was at risk, that we might return to the bad old days, as we still might. A study of Alzheimer's patients found it remarkable how many knew that Mrs Thatcher was PM, when they had forgotten almost everything else. I find I'm interested in writing some historical/political poems these days. Greg

Hi Cynthia, I'm relieved that it was recognisable as a sonnet! Many thanks for the relief your comments have caused me! I tried from memory to get the rhyme sequence right and to manage the twist in tone after line 8 and get the blooming meter right, and I think got closer than I normally do. It's come about in an odd way, created as part of correspondence on a forum where randomly I and a total stranger are carrying out a conversation purely in poem form. It's really pushing me to try to express what I mean and also frustrating when I can't force a poem in a direction I want but all in all a really fantastic experience.

I'm Smiles again ... well, because I guess I never really stopped!!!

Thanks for your note on Tickling Fish, Cynthia. I'm turning over some ideas for a few more as I had so much fun writing it.

I was thinking about your nonsense poem the other day, and mine, and about different ways of writing, and it made me think of when I was a kid keeping those diaries...did you ever used to write in code? As well as the mirror writing, I used to make up endless series of codes to write in too. It was SOOO satisfying to do that I might do it again :D Really quite time-consuming though!

Hi Cynthia,
you comment on the work of so many. You are a hostess of WOL I think. I have given myself a little time to read your own work, and I find a lot in it to enjoy and to think about. I very much like your description of the Picasso painting, and the Hurricane is full of strong images and vigorous action. you give a very womanly impression of sexual strength and confidence. There is something of DH Lawrence in the use you make of nature to express bodily feelings and desires. I love the setting of the Dream Footer, conveying her longings through the oozy ruts and sinuous currents. The stanza beginning 'down to the creek' could be from Sons and Lovers.
