Harry Day, the Royal Flying Corps First World War fighter ace, remarked that “rules are for the obeyance of fools, and the guidance of wise men". Harry Day was captured by the Germans in WW2 and repeated helped others to escape and many times attempted to escape himself. He finally escaped, stealing a VW car and driving it to Allied lines. Harry continually fought against the rules set against him, and in doing so, he saved many lives.

Hi Ray - apropos your comment and its inclusion of Grenfell Tower on "Sutures and Futures", it has been given a racial slant by a black QC at the current enquiry hearing. How easy it is to make this type of
aspersion - as if the emergency personnel might have agreed to
some "selective" response! No positive recognition that a valuable
portion of social housing in central London seemed occupied almost completely by those originating from outside these islands rather
than those in need from the indigenous English/British population.
The tragedy originating in one of the flats seems to have allowed this to be overshadowed and ignored. Something about road, hell and
good intentions comes to mind.

Emeka, You are gifted with the most exquisite ability to use your vocabulary to the full. Your poems are beautifully crafted with a wealth of imagination therein. From where do you achieve such mastery of the language and expression?
Keep writing

My poetry
is quite queer
slightly deranged
it does appear,
yet my reputation's
very clear
my poetry worse
than people hear!

Do masks really save lives?
it's debatable.
Each individual should be allowed to make that decision.
There is no law that says the state can make you wear a mask.
Once liberty is taken away, it's awful hard to get it back.
See Cuba or Venezuela or Red China!

The beard poem was just all in fun
I see from your photo
you really don't have much of a beard
so you have nothing to worry about.
No birds in beard for you!

The following is a comment to Keith Jeffries:
That poem was just a joke.
I am not opposed to beards in real life.
I wish I could grow one.
and men who have them are not really lazy
because it's more work trimming a beard
then it is just being clean shaven.
If you have a beard, more power to you!
Just keep the birds out of it.
You will do fine!

"tatty holidas"?
I had never heard of that.
But I think all children should serve
in some kind of community service
where they experience real life
as opposed to TV or video games.
Then they would realize
a more satisfying life.

To discover ones true self acting silly especially as child can be character building. There is no substitute for understanding life than experiencing it.
First impressions:
Tentatively discovering the purpose of life.

Rather a final solution a la Hitler, but would definitely remove your angst.
