Melancholics of the monsoon

Melancholic of the monsoon

Sluggish mornings,

Smell of fungus

in my slippery doorsteps,

Elongated bedtimes,

Slacking routines,

Hearing nothing ;but symphonies,

4 walls, headphones as my roomies,

Safeguarding books

And Reading them to cats

To which they nods,

But silence alone growls.

Instant noodles,

And concurrent doodles;

Fills stomach and minds.

Spring Clean

I've got to spring clean my brain
dust off the memories
It's time to rearrange
and tidy up the mantlepiece
I'll puff up the pillows
and air out the blankets
Find new places to sit and reminisce.

I'll throw a few things out
that I'm not going to need again
I've got way too much
of sadness and pain anyway
I'd better get started
There's so much to do
Spring cleaning's way over due

I...

The Middle Of Being

I am
so much
in the middle
of being
on the edge
of things.

I am
I am so much
so much
so much in the middle
the middle of being
of being on the edge
the edge of things.

And I think
These are the worst
places to be
The middle and the edge
Or is it?
Or is it
knowing where we are
is the wrong kind of knowing?

I am
so much
in the middle
of being alive
on the edge
...

I Cannot Cling

Today's blog is another in which there are two versions of the same poem. This time we have a short and a long version. If I were to keep only one I would probably keep the long version but since they are meditations I feel like it is OK for there to be two versions of the poem.

Version 1 – Long

In Death I cannot cling to who I am or was,
I will not know or see or hear or think,

Careless Breeze

I stood beneath a whispering tree
Upon a windy day
Singing into the careless breeze
My cares they blew away.
Then finally I clearly heard
What nature did avow
And I could see the sun at last
Beyond the leafy boughs.

Yes, finally I clearly hear
What nature does avow
And I can see the sun at last
Beyond the leafy boughs.

My Safe Place

A deep calming breath.

Take in the oxygen, let it fill your aching lungs.
Blow out the pain and the suffering into a the air,
Free it from the shackles of your body. It felt like a stranger.
Feel your fingers tingle as the blood rushes up and back down.
Feel your soul leave the confines of your physical being.

Don't be afraid. You are still here. You are in the world,
Your body is sti...

Oasis

What a welcome relief

your tender words are

to my weathered soul.

I get so busy in life

tending to other’s needs

that I often neglect my own.

But when I come to the

oasis of serenity and

see a good heart reflected,

my faith in love is restored.

The Glowering Mists of Autumn

The Glowering Mists of Autumn

As I travel life's journey I'm often-times struck

By a vision both novel and possibly true; that serenity

In a dangerous world without luck,

Is impossible; but is there a temporal divinity?

Perhaps the root causes of wonder and joy

Really are in the sky, or on Dante's fine peak,

Or my fireside, where the dance won't annoy

In the compa...

Zen Reflexions

To discern

                our place

To commune

To see

beyond our close shadow of death

To focus

                my poet mind

I need direction

                a qibla

Or some beads to tell

to take refuge from my life:

A candle flame

Only the candle

Flame

Flickering.

A journey into quietude

                begins

Int...

Significance of the Nineteenth Autumn

As the nineteenth autumn has come upon me,
It’s a whole new world I see.
Treacherous creatures, so often, hush and hide,
And it seemeth to me, a change in tide.

The poetry of soothing sensation has gone,
The glimmering golden glow of the sun is now none.
Some say,’ The Head is battling with the Heart’.
Well ! All Logic has been torn apart.

As I gaze into the vast emptiness
The dawning...
