January (Your warm loving smile)
January is cold
But made warm by your loving smile
I sit at my window
And I gaze up to the white glazed iced
skies
I feel the cold wind bite
And I wish I were a bird
One of those, which have flown to
warmer shores
But then, I could not have your warm
loving smile
So I think I’ll stay here in January

Loose change
Am living it up, partying all night
Then coming on down I feel reality bite
Spent up the next morning a fool to
myself
Oh I should have stayed at home and
put food on the shelf
Headache’s, hung-over, the near future
looks bleak
With no hard cash I will struggle this
week
Living on loose change but I’ll get by
Pennies jangle in my pocket but
drowned out the ...

Slam !
Where does it all begin?
Discrimination of gender back ground and skin
As mature we are categorised
Some are victims left vandalised
It is shaping, it is moulding
With other’s its simply controlling
In this idealistic slam
I question the priorities of man, woman
Listen in this is point blank poetry
About the infrastructure the pretence in our society
To cool to dance adopt the stance

Multi coloured drum
Beat is in the drum
Rhythms in the word
Beat is in the drum
Rhythm’s in the word
Multi coloured drum
Beats for everyone
Sounds echo around
Here the drums they pound
A multi racial beat
Drums they can speak
Body’s come alive
Words they contrive
Harmony here finds
Words within these lines
Drums are interacting
Barriers are collapsing
Rhythms are connecting
Listen to the proof

Is it any wonder
Abused by your uncle
Abandon by your father
Resented by your mother
Hated by your brother
Forced into religion
Un-answered prayers in question
Hale marry for your penance
Flickering candles burning at mass
Lay silent with your fears
Staring eyes wide open
Educated ignorantly
A vision of white supremacy
A skinhead and a squasticker
Jackbooted philosopher
A union jack flag-wav...

Power in the word
Haven’t you heard
There’s power in a word
Haven’t you heard
There’s power in a word
Let me demonstrate
I want to relate
A vocal transaction
To cause a reaction
Words that are spoken
Sentences said
Let the words filter through your ears
To the grey matter in your head
Its words we need
To communicate
So if you don’t mind
I’ll elaborate
Example, words of propaganda
Induce to...

The Bedsit
I put a fifty pound deposit down
A twelve foot square of room
A toilet that doesn’t flush
And a carpet that’s never seen a broom
The refrigerator it has mildew on
The last tenants cooking, is still in the
pot
And when you’ve seen the forks and
knives
Well, you’ve seen the forking lot
The mattress is full of pissed stains
The last host he was on smack
I found his hypodermic ...

G C D7 G
G, C, D7, G
It started with a droplet of rain
this old abandoned piano
would play again
Falsetto!
came a voice from the crowd,
a symphony of music, melody and sound
The second droplet of rain fell,
splashing onto the key,
this, is the intro of what was to be
G, C, D7, G
A solo guitar riff and a strum to accompany,
G, C, D7, G
The heavens begin to open
to a cacophony...

Fashion victim
That’s a blag tag, a fake Armani
It’s all part of being in, the fashion army
Diesel, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein
You an’t got nothing if you an't got
design
Giorgio, Jazz, Chacheral
You an’t the real thing without the real
smell
Adidas, Nike, Mizuno
You need the correct sports wear and
the right logo
Kickers, Caterpillar, Timberland
Walking in style across the land
Givinchy, Largerf...

Rusting with time
Rusting in places
A creek here and there
A good dust and polish should do it
She thinks
As she rises from the chair
I’ll put on some make up
A dab here and there
You can’t notice those grey roots
She thinks
As she combs back her hair
Nobody battered an eyelid
As I walked to work today
Maybe am getting old
She thinks
I’ll have to walk to an...

The old trooper talked of falling Candles and revolution
The old trooper sits in his corner
as usual
Sipping neat whiskey and half a beer
Drowning with endless stories
Anyone lucky or unlucky enough to sit
near
He tells of falling candles
And how of in the dark
A man’s shoot when it did not open
Flickered like a spark
Many times he would land safely
Then pause and look to the sky
There he would see a flickering light
And know a man ...

Meet me there
Meet me there
Where the snow falls around
But the beauty of summer still remains
Meet me there
Where the silver waters flow into the blue lake
We shall stay and bathe for a while
We shall be as new love
And we shall be as old
Meet me there
We could wonder over the land barefoot
And feel the morning dew beneath us
When the hour is midnight
But the day is still fresh and young
Meet me...

I am a liitle nobody
I am a little nobody
AMBITION is my name
My success in life is little
In success I wish to gain
I am a little nobody
I sit night after night alone
Thinking and scraping for words
To make a verse of my very own
I am a little nobody
And that is how I’ll stay
If somebody doesn’t give money
For my poem songs or plays
A notice in the paper
In small print appeared today

The Loss
This tongue licks lips un-kissed and dry
As a bewildered stare follows a bewildered sigh
The smile once engraved upon this face
Has long lost its sparkle
Has long lost its place
A bellyful of laughs just echo hungrily
Gradually turning into a rumble
Nervously, these hands fumble
With kisses blown
And memory copes with words known
Softly spoken, whispered sweet
Hushed in silence ste...

Addiction (above and beyond)
ADDICTION
Above and beyond
I inject myself daily
Four years since I’m clean
I roam through the streets
A split social spleen
I will beg for a living
I live for the day
I’ll do anything it takes
To maintain my way
The capillaries are open
I have heroin in my bloodstream
I’m the vagrant drug user
From your darkest of dreams
I’m afflicted with addiction
There’s a needle in my v...

Passing poem
Unseen words
Filter through my mind
Like dripping water
To form a pool
With each drop
The pool grows wider
With each splash
New words do form
Until spilling over
Onto the paper
Forming a sentence
In time a poem
But my mind does wonder
The pool seems to leak
For each written word
Does not speak
The flowing words
Are passing by
My mind becomes blank
The pool becomes dry

Infant woman
Loves kiss
Breathed life to you
Flesh bone skin and hair
Myself, partly reflected before my eyes
To nurture, nourish, cherish, rise
Doting, protecting, guardian I
Guiding, gently shunting you along
Playground laughter in my ears
Handstands, skipping, toss-overs you at play
Godly perfection, happiness unbound
Glory unspent, carefree with glow
Innocent as yet, as yet
Has to learn to know
