Laura, I've been meaning to share this for ages. I can't even remember when it came up. I'm a stair-leaper too, always from great heights, barely touching a toe on successive landings, rather sorry for poor souls racing down; they can't bound whole floors like me. It's always a wonderful feeling, never anxious. I'm also an air-walker over bushes and fences, sheds - that type of thing. My feet get to them and I naturally rise up and walk a few inches over the top, as butterflies do. I'm waiting for the dream when I walk 'through' things! That'll be interesting. We can dream only what our subconscious will allow. If I dream something like that, I might be dead the next day!

yep send me your email address and ill send it over as an attachment. i dont know if its any good. i really need to lure some children tomy house and read them it although that could be considered unhealthy. imagine the good old stories of yore being interrupted by social services and the pc police...shit what would they do to that baba yaga old witch... eating babies and trapping kids in cages...one of my faves was a bout a boy who was turned into a goblin and worked for this witch for all his life and when he came round from the spell only a day had gone. i love those time warping tales.

Truth be told the call centre is just a metaphor for self limitation and torture of the mind...that which is self inflicted by our own internal walls/barriers.

Still call centres are shit and as bad as you say. I once worked in one for a couple of months and it was sould crushing.

Though it was quite funny because in order to get the job I had to delete zeros off my prior salary (lie) because I walked out of a high paid job Hahaha

Thank you for your considered feedback on 'Love is...'. I only posted it because of the Wonderland thread in 'discussions'...have you been following that one? You are right about the rhyming, which is all over the place. I wrote this ages ago but didn't dare post it because I think it's a cliche...and I'd been such a tit about criticising other people's cliches I hadn't got the nerve to post it until the 'Love is...' thread on Wonderland appeared.

Of course - now you explain it... there was the pillar of salt for just turning round to take a peek - now what woman wouldn't do that? I think that was Lot's wife - I don't even remember her name.

I've never used salt to get blood out but I have used it on many a red wine stain... shame on me for not thinking about that!

Not that I'm looking to outdo you in dirtiness LOL but I think once a week might have been a luxury for me. No-one's fault though. Could you imagine looking after a paralysed husband with a stack of kids, the only means of heating water being a fire and then on top of that having to go out to work? My mum was superwoman - still is. I was very lucky in many ways. Looking back does make you realise how lucky our kids are now though - let's hope they appreciate it.

‘Raged the Wind’

The catalyst for the poem was one of trying to capture a moment before the world as we know it through history and geology actually deciding to render up the spark that began the development of life. To the dizzy heights and progress of today’s Homo sapiens in let’s say for example in Wigan today.

Hi Laura, thanks (I think) for your comments on my prostitute poem.

As an ex-computer programmer I certainly have no problems with numbers neither am suffering from Low Latent Inhibition. I just like playing around with words and their placements.

The idea with 'Episodic' and putting it on it's own line is that it not only refers to viewing but also when one is in a pub one has 'episodes' of sitting, standing, going to bar, toilet etc; then maybe being involved in your own thoughts, conversations then occasionally becoming aware/viewing what's going on in pub.

Laura, I haven't looked at that paper in a couple of years now. But maybe I shall again. Who knows what I perceived that night? I just remember saying over and over: This is not possible, and then proving that it was. It seemed like some kind of esoteric insight, actually a bit scary because I don't know where it came from. Up to now I haven't shared this experience with anyone except my husband.

Laura, many years ago I did some number crunching based on 10 - based on the Bible. I was completely blown away - like I had discovered quantum mechanics. The figures turned on themselves perfectly - the results were completely predictable no matter how I approached them. I wrote the numbers down for fear I would not remember the sequencing, the rationale, the explanation. But next morning the numbers were unreadable to me. I have the paper still, with its number columns and anecdotes, but I cannot fathom it. I KNOW they were amazing the night before. Life can be weird.

Thanks for your observations. I am interested what it means to YOU. So actually you are the person best of all to qualify on my work :-)

Whilst I like some bits, Couplets 2,6,7 & 9. Others are not poetic and are more just like statements. It's ok if they are odd and quirky or dont make complete sense but they need to do something and not be just bland. Maybe I have been reading too many free verse ghazals lately. The disconnected narative is a feature of the Ghazal form and so is ok but strange if you are not used to it. In the hair ghazal the shers are also disconnected BUT they are pulled together by the common refrain "your hair". Here the refrain "By it" makes things more random.

Also interesting that often (and on this page) people liked the shers I didn't particularly like, Hmm.
