Hello, Jeff!
My English is not better than yours and can't be. There are some things in the language that I know for sure, but... I still make a lot of grammar mistakes. My oral speech is just horrible because I have no practice. My written speech is a little bit better as I have more time to think. But..., anyway... Could you do me a favor and have a look at my site?
http://www.learninglanguagesl.jimdo.com
It sometimes seems to me that I am like a computer - translate from Russian into English, but...at the same time my poems I write in English when I think in English.
With warmest wishes, Larisa

Hello Jeff, thanks for your comments on "Gallery"
With regard to why we want to touch I think it is basically because we are sensual creatures, personally for me, the more senses I can get involved in an experience the better I like it.
Certainly in education if you hear, see & do something you remember more of it, rather than just read about something or if you're told something.
Anyway, that's my theory on why we want to touch :) x

Cheers Jeff & thanks for coming over to introduce yourself, there'll be a few more friendly faces to focus on next time I'm on that big stage ;) I was on cloud 27 all day Friday, kept grinning & feeling proud of myself, overall a great experience, good to hear other people too and meet people I'd read & enjoyed on here.
Have a fantastic weekend, see you soon,
Petrova.

Hi Jeff. Can't believe you were at that Bolton v Chelsea match - surely you were too young?! I'm talking about the 1976-77 season when both teams were pushing for promotion. I do remember it being fairly lively at the ground - those were the days! I was living in York at the time and I recall even more clearly driving across on the M62, and how beautiful the snow on the tops looked in the January sunshine

Thanks for the comments Jeff...I know what you mean about the choppy lines in Stockings, I've been doing much shorter lines of late so it might get a revision at some point.....or I could start wearing ankle socks! :)

Hi Jeff - Posted on Chris' 'Nearly Love' poem -
Well 'Serial' can be 2 syllables, or rather emphasised parts (Can't remember the technical term) Yes I also like the extra HAS for the reason Jeff says and you could have this and keep the sylable count in my version (just). Win

Jeff, thanks very much for liking Don't Look Away. It's one of what I would call my postcard poems, ones I work away on in the hotel room in the early morning when my wife is still asleep. I think it has a lot in common with your atmospheric poem Napoli, particuarly looking at the picture. I also like The Journey of Your Life, because I'm a sucker for trains and stations. They just provide moments of such great drama, of life-changing movements, of reunion and separation. Best wishes, Greg

Hi Jeff
Had been intending coming over for Sunday, but having seen the early start; the guest spot; the quiz; the music, and thinking there'll be a large turnout, with open-mic in first half only, I'll be staying at home.
Have a good time

Good evening Jeff
I would just like to say how inspiring I found your 3 sample poems. I have to confess to sharing the views in the Glastonbury one particularly. At the point when freedom from the machine became a weekend going TO the machine, like you, I chose the radio. Some great truths in your poems.
not perturbed at all!

I live where the Glastonbury Festival takes place, and so I understand what you mean by the vivid picture you paint of the festival site. Maybe you're just 'trench' weary. Hope you decide to make it next year.
