They do.
but a few die-hards like me, still get the morning newspaper.
I would hate to see them go away completely.
Wouldn't we miss the paper
as much as the morning cup of coffee?
I still believe in tradition
long may it live.

Beautiful picture above. I'm not sure I appreciate the symbolism. But I really do think it IS symbolism. The dark berries, being eaten or spat out? I'm really interested.

Raj,
Are you still on line? I have seen nothing for weeks. I have always enjoyed your imput, so I'm being bold enough to ask if all is well with you. You have been much in my thoughts.

who wants to hang around
with old people.
they smell and
don't make any sense.
I know this from what people tell me.
I would never admit to it myself.
wiink.

Hi Cynthia, it was very nice to read your comment about my profile. I have been off the site lately, but you teased me out again. EFIT is the method of getting likenesses for crime identification shown to witnesses etc. which replaced PHOTOFIT consisting of lots of pieces of a face overlaid based on their description. I think that was an older method pre digital age. In my case I used it as an illustration of conforming to expectations . I hope that is a help!
I hope you're well.
Regards, Ray

but what do you expect
from an old codger

the only thing
that still works without hurting.

Some good ideas in your sample piece you've shared. Perhaps you could shorten it as its maybe a bit long for my own personal tastes, but I did enjoy it. Welcome to Write Out Loud btw. I suspect this would go down well live if you ever chose to perform it. I co run one night in Manchester and I could see it going down well must admit, but anyway.. keep sharing

You are always a delight!
I'm 'not with it'. What does EFIT mean?
If I knew how to do it, I'd post a black and white photo of myself at twenty-five. I know you'd enjoy it, as I do yours: the older person shining through youth.

I'm so glad you're cruising some of the 'oldie-goldies'. I have enjoyed this site from Day 1.There weren't that many of us ten years ago, and many of us actually knew each other in person here in the north of England. It was a fine experience! Now, I'm ten years older, and not so social, and not sure if there still is an active poets' performing 'circle' in the Greater Manchester Arena. But I value the 'world venue' highly.
Welcome!

In the attic of your mind
in dark corners find
a hidden spot,
but be careful with
what is recalled
there's things up there
just as soon forgot!

Thank you Don. Your rhymes are good. Poems are hilarious still have deep meaning. To know you is difficult through your work. Like an ocean deep, your words have hidden mysteries. Yet, there is a drive to explore and discover those mysterious zones.

Don you might have read your version of it somewhere, but I specifically recall having seen the expression phrased as: A Picture Saves a thousand words. In other words, both of us could be right if there are 2 contexts. But thanx. Will check out the phrase elsewhere and if different to what I have just said will return to the arena. P.

Here in the States
there are always news stories about
people finding babies in dumpsters
it is not common but on the other hand
it is not rare.
People are too stupid to use birth control!

Christmas time is always fun
lots of beer lots of wine
but then all is gone
with the bottle bank full of empties
and money all spent up
on the positive side
a clear head is good
to write some more poetry
with the new year coming up!
