Dave, thanks for the feedback on the 'silence' poem, it seemed a popular one, I wonder wether to go into in more detail as theres hidden layers, I'm real happy you liked it, I know you have to endure all the ranting at Wigan, so I'm happy to show you this side of the coin, sorry that our chat was only brief at Tudor, you slipped the net and I missed your reading, hope to see you soon, Spotlight or Wigan hopefully. Now its warmign up I may get out a bit more. Peter.

Yes, Dave, I've heard that too, that Towton involved the greatest loss of life on an English battlefield. It's a pity there's not more there to commemorate it other than the single monument. I think the time lapse renders it safe to make a monologue.

Ey up Dave, thanks for the comment on Uncle Ned. It was a good night all round at the Tudor. I would agree that dialect poems are necessary to preserve a fast disappearing World.

Thanks for your thoughts on Work of Art, Dave. The structure is comprised of 3 lines of iambic heptameters (fourteeners) rhyming aaa with a final line of pentameter (give or take a caesura or two!), and rhyming b. The same rhyme then repeats throughout the other stanzas. Haven't a clue if it has a name but Kipling used 14-ers a fair bit. I used the same structure for Dipso, Fatso, Bingo Asbo Tesco - one at I did at the Tudor last December.

Thanks, Dave. I've just finished reading the last of the 6 garden poems. Just love them. So enjoyable. Also liked the poem in praise of baths! Especially after a hike in the hills!

Thank you very much Dave
Enough with the Stilton cheese already .... specially just before I hit the ole scratcher.

However dreams are the catalyst of inspiration for many of my creative ventures.

once again many thanks

Thanks for your thoughts on Red Lady of Paviland.
I was inspired by the recent Neil Oliver programme on Ancient Britain.
There's bit of a poetic licence stretch in that the cave is at the bottom of the sea cliffs, where I set the poem whereas when the Red Lady was alive the sea was miles away, probably with South Wales continuously joined to the West Country (maybe even Brittany).

Thx for the feedback on my last poem Dave.

Yes freedom is certainly what it is about. Particularly independence from self limitation.

It has little to do with a call centre any more than any job that tortures the psyche...the job is really just the metaphor.

My Best

Chris

Hi Dave,

Good to hear from you - I hope things are well with you. I haven't been around much of late; I am getting to grips with a new job, which doesn't leave me too much spare time unfortunately. I haven't lost interest and I've looked in (without logging in) from time to time, although only to read. As usual I see the great eclectic mix that is the world of WOL! I have a few bits of nonsense on the backburner somewhere - well, mainly in this addled noggin of mine if I'm truly honest. They're in there somewhere - it's the surgical removal that's the problem! I hope to be able to contribute again soon - watch that space. Class you said? Would that be the remedial one?

Take care and best regards,

A.E.

Not writing much of any quality right now, seem to be stuck on a bit of psyche spring cleaning which is about as interesting to anyone but me as collating margarine tubs.
back soon, when I seasonally adjust :)

I was thinking about this idea/poem in the wider context rather than simply the personal.

On which note; maybe you could detail that biblical story and reference over that pint we mentioned.
