Thanks for commenting on my poem 'Margaret'. The names are real,I thought about changing them but thought they were anonymous enough.

Hi Isobel;
Glad you like 'Perfect Place' - it's a bit of a oldie that one but its suited to the time of the life and links in well to 'Before the Curtains Open' (which is a lot newer)...
I'll prob read it at W.O.L. Bolton next month.. x

Hi Izzy, thanks for comment on 'For the good times'- oh dear! I really didn't mean for it to reflect sadness and/or regret.Further comment below the poem if you care to read it.x

Incidentally, Dave Bradley commented on the poem and said that he had to look up the word "milf". You didn't have any problem then?

Isobel, my friend Jill is not right in the head. She is enormously entertaining, enormously embarrassing and enormously loved. I am a better person for knowing her and having to endure her!

Eh up - I had to rush off last night without saying goodbye to anyone, totally misjudged how much time I had left and ended up having to leg it for the train!
Anyhow, thanks for the beer and I'll get you one back next time chuck :)

Hi Isobel,
Thanks for reading and commenting on 'autumn' - always much appreciated.
The last two lines don't work - just not quite sure what I want to do with them. The point was (kind of) supposed to be about the finality of it for us ... or something. Need to edit it anyway!
:)

Hiya honey,
I've not been on here because my head is up me arse again and I can (just about) cope with the level of vacuousness FB provides. Hope you're well, speak soon...we should meet up. I need some entertainment!

Glad you liked 'Love is...' I actually blogged it twice before and then instantly deleted it because I felt it was so cliched...and you know how much trouble I've got into here by criticising cliches. :-)
Dealing with cliche minefields like 'love', 'the moon', 'shagging' etc. is almost the point of poetry...how to say it again, but differently. That's poetry.
Thanks for the lovely feedback.
:-)

Thanks Isobel. Now you also know why some of us don't accompany our comments with photos. The facial adornments were applied by my daughter at The Big Chill last year. She felt they were necessary to make me look cool. Poor kid.

I agree completely re religion. Am reading the bible for the first time in my life (was always atheist, now agnostic, for what its worth), and it keeps striking me how different the stuff that Jesus says in it, to what certain 'Christians' would have you believe. Total eye opener.
Oh, and the reason you won't remember Lot's wife's name is because she is never directly named! How's that for controversial!

Salt - big thing in the bible, but I initially put it in there because it's the best thing to get blood out of clothes (cold water and salt - never used it?). It's also a purifier, in essence. Hope that helps :)
oh - hehe - just got your last message :D very topical ;D See ya there then lass x

I am outdone! In dirtiness stakes! ;D Heh - naw, your ma sounds like a proper superwoman. We had a coal fire to heat water too - had to pull the 'damper' down to get the water hot, and quite often the water would be stained with rust. that probably didn't help with the tidemarks ;)
It's heartwarming to hear you talk about your mum like that :)

Yes I do agree with you Isobel about not just posting but commenting on others. That's what i've always done and it's a main reason why I don't post that often - because it is wrong not to read other people's stuff and comment on it in a supportive way, and I don't always have time to do this properly. If you don't like it at all, best not to comment, I'd say - unless it;s actually offensive in some way and you feel really strongly the need to comment anyway, but it can and should be done maturely - not something everyone is capable of on here sadly, altho no doubt they consider themselves well-endowed intellectually!

Afternoon Isobel
I used to be a bouncer at Mothercare...
Thank you so much for the wonderful and extremely flattering comments made to my poem.
‘Raged the Wind’
The catalyst for the poem was one of trying to capture a moment before the world as we know it through history and geology actually deciding to render up the spark that began the development of life. To the dizzy heights and progress of today’s Homo sapiens in let’s say for example in Wigan today.
Once again many thanks for taking the time to read and comment I very much appreciate it.

Hi there,
Thanks for reading and commenting on 'Almost' - always very much appreciated.
I was actually the eldest of two, and the only certainty about our finances was that there was absolutely no money for anything - hence the cupboard under the table was the house for the paper dolls I'd drawn myself.
Obviously the poem not quite working :)

Many thanks for your comments on Obit. Honestly I take it as great praise from you, as I rate your work in performance poetry very highly. I definitely agree - some poetry just doesn't suit the Tudor nights setting at all. All poetry should be read out loud but you do have to choose your setting carefully & be aware of the audience. I feel like I am gradually tuning into what works for the different settings but it's quite an education!
And yeah, no sex! Case of no sex please, we're British!! Too cerebral, not earthy enough! xxx

Thanks for commenting and spending time with my 'musing' poem. Yes, poetry is not dead... but outside the realm of poets and poetic pursuits there is quite a dearth there that it sometimes seems a dying art form. I don't believe in my heart that poetry can die. As long as there is breath and words in the heart and the tongue... there poetry always will be.

Hey Ho yerself then ... The reason for the poem disappearing is quite simple ... Twas a ditty posted by the scantily clad Augusta Darling... Titled A Ragged pair Of Knickers...or something like that..
How are you its been far to long since we've seen each other.

Thanks for your comments on the prostitute piece. It may well be that I unconsciously was echoing John's 'man' poem as I like it a lot. But what I actually had in mind were those jokes that begin with the cliché: 'A man went into a pub' or 'A parrot went into a pub' or 'An Irish man walked into a pub' etc - I thought I was playing around with that. I can't change it now as Banksy says he'd kill for those lines ;)

...And a very good ahhh afternoon to Isobel...
Thank so much for your very well thought through critique... it really isn't a million miles away from the reality at the heart of the piece.I was born on a small Island and as a consequence the sea features in much of my poetry.
You are so right about the power and eternity of the sea ...to me it is hypnotic..
Once again many thanks for such a worthwhile and full critique

Hi Isobel, Hope you are doing well and had a great Xmas and New Year. Sorry I can't get along tonight - my wife had an op on her elbow just after Xmas and she is getting better but is still not 100 per cent so I can't make it tonight. I was looking forward to getting along after missing December's so I really hope to make it next month. Hope it is a good night and hope to see you in Feb, take carexxx

I'm made of strong stuff, those lovely life experiences (tongue in cheek but without resentment) have made me so.
I want to publish eventually so I certainly won't be disappearing. Life is far too interesting & I'm far to curious as to what's around the next corner ;) x
