Hi Larisa,
Thank you so much for the comment on my poem "I'm Not Perfect". I wrote this poem because I'm not perfect and I don't want to be. The many mistakes I've made have made me stronger.

Thanks

hi , i love your poem MY WISHES, it is very much my style, the short stanzas and monosyllabic lexis creates a snappy and straight to the point poem. the paralinguistic form places good emphasis on the differences of WANTS, WISHES and NEEDS, and many of my poems also use this paralinguistic style.

Hello Larisa - I visited your website and found it creative and colourful! And what a fine looking city Odessa is...the photographs show it to be a grand mixture of the past and present, with some beautiful buildings and in a perfect position by the sea. Its "Steps" are familiar to film audiences everywhere. You are indeed fortunate to be a daughter of such a fair (as in "lovely") and famous city.

Hello Larisa - what argument? :-))
Here's something I remember from a wise friend of many years ago:
Argument is the food of vanity
Discussion is the food of knowledge.
...............................................
As I recall - we were discussing something.
I don't think I've met any real argument on WOL...that's why I enjoy it so much.
Best wishes.

Bless you, Larisa. I'm glad the poem spoke to you. I knew it was possible that no one would even bother to read it, since I'm getting a bit of a reputation for 'complexity' sometimes. And I don't do it on purpose. I think that Simplicity and Complexity are two hands in the same mitten. Speaking of 'winter' - I miss the magical snowfalls of my Canadian girlhood. There is nothing to compare to them. And, as you probably noticed, I am a former singer as well, speciallizing in Music of the Church, but singing in all genres. I found 'Art Songs' from all countries challenging and also personally rewarding. They always made me feel like a citizen of the world.

Thanks for commenting on 'Around All Our Tables', my response is also shown on the poem's page so that it can make sense to anyone who wishes to see it in context. :)

To answer your query, you can choose to use 'up' instead of 'down', or even 'along', though it is rather more usual for similar phrases to use 'down'.

Big hugs for you my friend, and a Merry Christmas (perhaps you celebrate it later as in the Russian Orthodox calender?)

Take care, Dave

Hello Larisa,
It's not just at football and rugby that England and Scotland have a rivalry. These are just examples. The best way I can describe the relationship of England and Scotland is that they are like brothers. They may be rivals, they may fight each other but they are family.
Incidentally, my suggestion that The Good and The English was the answer to question 1 was a joke response. If you are entering a proper competition I do not think this will do as an answer. I'm afraid I don't know the real answer.
Sorry.

Hello Larisa,
"The Good and the English".
It's a joke, really. Although the English and the Scots are united as British, England and Scotland have fought each other for nearly 2000 years. The last battle between England and Scotland was at Culloden in 1745. When England play Scotland at football or rugby, the Scots till refer to England as "The Old Enemy".

Thanx Larisa, will have to do that! I've never been there or Ukraine, but know someone of Ukranian decent very well lol. I've heard Odessa is a lovely place and I'm sure the girls are too. I've been to the Gambia, but don't know any Gambian women as well. I wasn't comparing the Ukranian girls in preference to other eastern countries, all very nice, but (your fave word lol) will take your word for it. I'm glad you approve of my use of 'the', thought I had cocked it up! Your English is better than mine! Thanks Jeff X
