Just coming back on your comments on Shut Down Stu.
I very much appreciate the spirit of your thoughts. I had an idea and fleshed it out quite quickly - the idea of a factory closing and taking its time and its toll, then thought how similar this was to a body doing the same. I suppose this all comes with experience of life as you say. Very pleased that you should appreciate what I am doing and I wouldn't say it was rash - honest yes. I was pleased with the last line, it seems to me that desperate people invest imagined hope in close ones, perhaps.

Thanks again, Ray

THanks Stu for commenting on The man in the White Coat. I thought I'd left a thanks but now I can't trace it. It's a bit freaky like the trip itself. I always refer to the pharmacy as the science fiction end!

I'm pleased you liked the Matt Baker poem Stu. Thanks.
The trouble is with this kind of thing is the amount of time taken to get the simple flow of the words right. I was pleased with Ilk la Moor baht at.

Thanks for your helpful advice re publishing. I am a bit miffed now as I put so much of my content on WOL and would like to start submitting to small presses and the like. Given the expectation of rejections in the normal way it seems a bit depressing to add to the problem.
I suppose one could re title and change some of the earlier stuff. This rule obviously applies to competitions as well I guess.

Anyway you've given me flesh to hang my bones on!!

Cheers Ray

Ta, Stu. Brevity is all. Actually a point I wanted to ask you in your capacity as a printed poet. I entered a competition, as was told that blogs on WOL constitute publication therefore invalidating them from any further chance of print. Other than deleting them individually, have you any advice from an old virgin such as I, please? Thanks a lot.

Hey Stu..you know I've spent quite a bit of my adult career as a server of chefs in busy kitchens..one of the most notable experiences was witnessing a chef, veins pulsing full on the forehead, viewing the abbreviation for a meal of the day..

"SHE WROTE PIGS..PIGS..PIGS FOR PIEROGIES..PIGS GODDAMMITT.."

This blaring from the kitchen all the while quiet little servers took the orders of local bankers and engineers who were listening obsequiously from the dining room..excellent..

Hey Stu,

Thanks for reading my pieces and for the kinds words. I'm not sure about this, but it looks like you are my first reader as a newbie on the site, so thanks for that again, I'm thrilled! I'm definitely interested in checking out your collection "Casually Discussing the Infinite". So congrats to you on your debut collection! It's nice to hear from you.

Best,
Vicky

I'm crash landing on your profile page Stu. I came in low to avoid detection and now I walk unaided to meet and greet a poet whose comments always cheer me up. I'm flattered that you consider The Boghole a triumph. I love the word, it has a Seamus Heaney credibility for me, and of course can be a rectal equivalent. I never once thought of cancer but in this context would be about as scary as you could get.

Thanks again. Ray.

Aye up Stu - thanks for the kind comments on 'Tumbleweed' really pleased that you got that gothic western 'Preacher' style vibe - I was thinking more about the Johnny Cash video of 'The Wanderer' but that Nick Cave reference fits equally. Also the post-apocalypse of something like 'The Walking Dead'. Glad you liked it

Hi Stu Glad you like the latest offering. Yes, I believe I've pretty well enough for a book now, although I have a few more pieces on the back burner. I've actually done a few tweaks to the 'Golden Lesson', so I'm going to repost it. These days on WOL if I just edit, my picture goes. Very annoying.

Thanks for your note on Bathtime.

It's a deeply unpleasant memory from childhood that has plagued me for years. I thought to try and exorcise it through poetry. Your take is close to the real thing.

Thanks for the kind comments on 'The Dark & The Light' Stu - apologies for my slow response - not been on the site much recently. Yes - he was thought to be indestructible - which just goes to show that we are all frail things really. Not sure if it got across the fact that his light was chasing Lemmy's darkness down the road of death - but he was equally iconic and, in some cases, seemed even more invulnerable. A sad week for rock music indeed.

Oh my. Finally a living modern day poet who I can get on board with. I was beginning to give up hope. You are incredibly talented. We also appear to share some of the same influences (Plath and Bukowski) which may also be why I love your writing. I see some Ginsberg influence in there as well? Amazing. Thanks so much for sharing.

thanks so much for your kind comments on 'Herod' Stu - sorry it's taken a while for me to respond - I've been in Austria on holiday - just got back. I know what you mean about Haiku's - I think folk try them because they are 'just 3 lines', but they're bloody difficult to do properly - I write a few, and publish fewer - they either work ands every word counts - or they don't and are banished to haiku hell ;-)

Very kind of you Stu, regarding Shepherds Bush W 12. Not an easy poem for obvious reasons, but you have graced it with an astuteness of thought.
Simply personal history I think is worth conveying, judgement to be left to others. I know you feel the same. Life moves on and experiences may be valid at a certain time.
Cheers. Ray

Hi Stu, thanks for your comment on dismantled - feeling very flattered that you enjoyed it. It was one of those ones that just came out and I wasn't really sure about posting it - I love that I rarely have any idea which ones will interest people. When I read your comment at first I was thinking 'is he having a go' and then I realised there was no sting in the tail - a lovely surprise, so thanks again x
Not that I think you often, or ever to my knowledge make sarcastic comments - that is all about my own insecurity. I'll stop now, my explanation is becoming unwieldy.
