scars (Remove filter)
in the darkness, lights
I was ready made for grief.
to live an ode to a common thing,
this elegy to peace.
and on the days that I feel nothing,
I torment the stillness behind my eyes
because feeling is proof of living.
and I so badly want to be alive.
to dig deep in the scar garden,
to excavate my hollow pit,
to sow a lifetime of memories
of being just out of reach.
it is my...

CUTS
CUTS
When I think of her I think of scars.
She told me when she touches them they remind her of the cuts;
of how the cuts made her feel,
“it’s a purge”, she said, “a sense of being real".
She spoke to me with honesty of the incremental cost
of destroying the things she held so dear
now irretrievably lost.
Of how, through her inner turmoil,
she could meet the gi...

What Became Of That Poor Girl?
Nothing could stop what we did
Alchemy dictates its conclusion,
Tangled in an urgent chemistry
Physically desperate for fusion
What became of that poor girl?
Hiding those scars on her wrist
Bruises like plates on her back
Her lips in pain when we kissed
A freshers' conference is wild
Or used to be in olden times
Before masks and distancing
And other anti-...

To Try Is Human, To Strive, Divine
Sweet summer sunshine
And her warm embrace,
Her radiance, as pale as egg-whites,
Veils her face.
She shies away from you and I
Behind the soufflé of clouds,
Mighty and high,
Far, far away from the mortal crowd.
Or perhaps she's afraid
Of the power we hold
To birth, sunder and devastate
Those shaped from the same dough.
Fragile feeble fingers...

Scars
My scars have piled up like leaves on Autumn grass.
My knees are a testament to lake pollution
and MRSA.
My hands tell the story of a rambuncious youth
yearning for adventure.
My thighs are a roadmap of mental illness
and a fondness for razor blades.
My face bears the craters from a begone allergy
My mouth is the magnum opus of a poorly trained dog,
whom I miss everyday.

Senryu - Little did I know..
Little did I know .
The disguises work wonders..
Hiding scars untold..
Little did I know
Falsity wins veiled and draped..
Pure Heart deeply cocooned..

I do not get it
I do not get it when they say,
We will not make it one day,
I do not get it, when they laugh,
On us and on our scars
I do not get it when they do not believe us,
How crazily can this world suck?
I cannot express the pain in words,
Let’s run because we seem cursed
Let’s run away from the chains of pain,
Let’s run away where we can dance in rain,
Let’s run as ...

Strangers Leave Scars
We were strangers by the pool
there was summer on your skin
I lay low, opened my whole body
in the hope that you would find me
Then taking it the distance
from the shore raised to the sky
there were many sailors scheming
on the bending of your knee
There’s a bridge in your dreams
as it recedes behind a fog
you wonder what it means...
Even naked your body was a silk gown
as you sc...

Soul Scars
There you are beaming
at everyone you meet
posting highlights,
keeping it together.
But, I see your soul scars...
loneliness, heartbreak,
disappointment, addiction,
depression, despair...
It's enough to turn
most souls to dust.
But not us.
Diamonds are made from
coal under pressure.
Show your scars,
keep the faith,
and shine on.

Driving Through Cromwell Hill Road
A house is built from bricks and glued
Together to create shelter renewed
A skeleton protecting organs hidden inside,
Waiting for a family to live and reside
Seasons pass and storms blow by
Damage accrues despite how hard it tries
To keep flawless and perfect, societies dream
From beauty to beast, becomes unseen
"I am ugly, marred, broken- why bother trying?"
My purpose is futile, my fut...

The Junk Shop
I was lost among the old junk,
in the farthest of corners, when
I heard a clock ticking away.
It had a rhythm of its own,
though the ticks were separate
it appeared to echo instead,
and when I watched the clock face,
the second hand would twitch a bit
before jumping to the next notch.
'Must be a pice of junk,' I thought,
then I looked down and checked my watch,
and it read the sam...

The Sailor Man Knows a Lady
The sailor at sea, who knows a lady,
When she's around he sees her treasures!
"And the sailor man knows a lady!"
O', evening come an' weather be fair,
To catch her eye, and meet her there!
"And the sailor man knows a lady!"

Cold at the Pump
Cold at the pump, I rub my hands together,
But, for a moment, there’s nothing there,
And I search for the pockets of my coat,
My breath faces its very death and fades,
And somewhere in the air, I leave it there,
And notice my time is ticking away,
The cold gets in close and I feel the chill,
When I realize I’m getting mugged by it,
And shiver and shudder at the thought of it,
When all...

Long Lost My Heart
When did my troubled heart last open it's door
Easing your entry to it's welcoming glow
So many years past since such invasion
Crept stealthily in 'ere I could sense it show
The blend was changing so deep within
Taking such time to let me feel cheeks aglow
When your fair visage came once more into view
Take heed poor heart your defence did never know
Quietly healing from scars hi...
