Hello Win, thank you for your odyssey through my recent stuff. Always interested in your comments.
The Qatarda piece was a silly attempt at a three-line, one-word per line haiku. It turned out to be a bit of a challenge to get a seven syllable middle word.

Hi Win. Just to add a little rider to Dark Nights. My Mum told me that my grandad once dropped his false teeth down the tippler and fished them out with a stick ,cleaned them up with boiling water and put them back in!
It didn't affect him 'cos he lived to a good age but he did talk a load of shit though! Ha! Ha!

Hello Win. Thanks for commenting on Selby Abbey. Yes, it's a remarkable icon to have on my doorstep. I used to think how lucky I was to live so close to York (and still do) but the Abbey is every bit as fascinating.
I also felt obliged to restore the balance to my previous disparaging (musical!) parody of "My Favourite Things" about Selby!

Thank you for commenting on Snafus. The further out I go the more I realize the greatest philosophy is love. Finding different ways to illustrate that seems to be my literary trajectory. Love truly is revolutionary.

Hi Win, believe it or not, i have the very same book. It is my favourite all time book and has been in my possession ever since my days in the army. (i think i bought it about 1989). I used to belong to the Encounters book club, alas, i can find no trace of that book club nowadays. I have viewed it that much, and it has travelled far, so much to say, it is in tatty condition now lol. But yes, such an awe inspiring subject. We could debate it all night, i just wish i could go into far off galaxies sometimes.

best wishes

mike

Nice of you to take the time to comment. Maybe 6:30 was a private consultation? But how private or personal?
I hope all is well at your end, although Hebden seems very up and down. Hopefully our paths will cross in the not-too-distant.

Could I ask a large favour in your opinions of a new personal poetry project poetry project (excuse the unintended alliteration) I am starting a play based on my skills in poetry, where each scene will be a new poem, telling a gradual story, based on my newest poem 'how pathetic'. and possibly incorporating my poem 'alone' also, I am asking anybody I can for their opinions and advice of what sort of ideas I could weave into the plot, as I am trying to plan it beforehand to give a rough guideline, if you could help it would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you :)

Thanks for your comment. How lovely that you can say that! I know what you mean but it's still good to find others feeling that way too - liking a poem even without knowing what the heck it's all about! But anyway, here goes:
it's meant to be about kids in care and their experience - being let down by neglectful parents, having, as typically they do, special needs in spite of often being very bright, and the reactions of the media in too often condeming them - forgetting that they are children basically, but that they live outside of what we hope is a normal experience, that of a loving, caring family and friends. Ha - you know me too well! I wasn't saying ridiculous - it's just that experimental poetry of that type isn't my bag. Poetry has to move me, make me think, make me laugh. If it doesn't do that then it's missed the mark. Luckily, I am just one opinion and there a million out there who differ. So will you be building a nasty pile of bricks on the canal bank, any time soon?
