One of the most terrible diseases, as we all know Mike. Don't know if you had heard or read about a case where the elderley gent suffering from dementia, had killed his wife, walked out of the house,
and when brought back to the house by someone, upon seeing his wife lying on the kitchen floor, asked, oh no! is that my wife?
How very very sad is that Mike? ( omg )

A masterly piece of descriptive writing. I liked the use of the word 'arborous'. I recall Clemmie Churchill being accused by Sir Winston of arboricide, after she had given instructions for a tree to be felled in order to enhance their view from their home in Chartwell.
Thank you for an excellent poem so rich in its vocabularly.

You have certainly achieved all you had in mind when it comes to the use of imagery. A poem of loss and devastation with a powerful vocabulary.
Thank you for this,

Another which touches so eloquently on the truth of our earthly predicament. As Rose has commented this is most certainly a poem to begin the day as it creates a good perspective on life and restores true values.
Thank you for this,

An interesting poem Ed,
I go to Ardnamurchan and The Hebrides most years, it's thin up there. A feeling of being in nature and generally closer to something just beyond our grasp. It's a wonderful place to be, both physically and emotionally.
I have no God but I understand the term "thin" it isn't a word you hear used much South of Carlisle or by people occupying our Cities.

Mike,
A fair account of life for my father these days. Written with heartfelt sadness I'm sure.
Well written and observed in my opinion.

Keith: The intentions behind verses are different from what's comprehended.
A mystery none can actually solve.
Thank you.
Graham: i totally agree with you. Even a poet doesn't know the beginning nor the end of what the poet writes. Most of it is inspired.
Thank you.

An interesting use of the word sliver. In this poem I feel as if I am taken into the cosmos which does not have the dimensions we experience here on this plant. The seen and the unseen which are both close, each of one and of the other also. A part of an even greater mystery.
I enjoyed this poem and thank you for it.

Of course they want you to gamble responsibly. You’re no good to them when you’re cleaned out. It’s called cashflow.
I also love the way they’re trying to double the cash pool by targeting women.
Excellent stuff, Stephen.

A poem which resonates with my loathing of gambling. I refuse to dabble in any form of this exploitive business. All Government Lotteries are a tax on the poor, who buy tickets with what little they have only to win nothing.
A wake up poem.
Thanks,
Keith

I have never been JC's greatest fan (a lifelong social democrat, I'm afraid) but this seems a very worthy venture, even if he should be careful of including his own poem alongside the likes of Robert Frost and Stevie Smith.
A sneering review in the Spectator - no such thing as bad publicity, I suppose. Certainly not there!

Thankyou for the early like Stephen.
I love Churches, their history, their architecture, their place in the landscape.
I have the utmost respect for humble practitioners of Christs message, my Father was one.
The authority the various organised Churches of the UK have built themselves upon has hugely distracted them from the Gospels.
I cannot see a time when I might surrender my atheism, neither can I look upon religion as having no significance in our daily lives because to many including non-believers it clearly does.
This scribble alludes to just one corruption/abuse of authority existing within the alleged sacred walls of worship.

A very well crafted poem which poses the perennial problem of who we are to trust. This problem assails us throughout our lives. We need to exercise a spirit of discernment and through prayer seek guidance as to how we should respond.
