dk.,
When you put your mind to writing good poetry you produce some fine work. Try and avoid the frivolous. You are a good poet.

Hi Ray - Not sure about your message of the 1st November just
read. My only recall is of a purchase way back and that seems to
be connected with my message seen in your list of messages dated 7th February last. However, I will go to my Paypal
account, not least to check payments in general - and come
back to you. Cheers, Mark

So many similar stories.
Apparently Parrots swear on a regular basis.
Like children picking up bad habits.
But..you cannot spank a Parrot!
Animal cruelty you know!

A purse pup
may have a hankering
but it's too used
to pampering,
so to waves and sun
it shies away
prefers the comfort
of the shade.

Hello Keith, fantastic autumn poem on Poetry Plus. Really enjoyed the beautiful language. I started WOL in 2017, and most of us have come on a great deal since then, I think. Found a poem new to me today. Titles, by John Richardson, whom I didn't know. It's not in the least pedantic. even though he was a Victorian poet, andvery amusing. Keep up the good work.
All the best, Jennifer

That poem was written in praise of shopping carts
not to criticize them or point out their failures.
God knows there is enough negativity already.
We should uplift each other and...uplift our shopping carts.
Where would we be without them?
(by the way, where did you come from? Not seen your name
before. Are you a regular or irregular?

Nice parrot story - my father was phoned by a nice, but very conventional old spinster, who asked him for assistance. He discovered she had bought a parrot, whom she had taught to say all the usual, Hello, How are you? etc etc., but it had started to swear like a trooper, and she couldn't understand why. Neither could my father, as her visitors were all eminently respectable. He discovered, however, that she put it out at the end of the garden on sunny days. On inspection, he saw there was a golf course over the hedge, and a huge bunker!!!!!!!!!! He then suggested she put it out in the front garden!

Hi DK, hoped you'd got rid of me did you!!!? I WILL BE BACK.
Have been busy, (a euphemism for up to my neck in it), with family health problems. Nothing that can't be cured/treated, luckily, but everything seems to come all together. What with making appointments, having and organising various tests, consoling, minimising, comforting, the nitty gritty etc. etc. haven't had a moment for myself. Have two or three pieces of doggerel to put on when I have time. Had you already dug another hole for me?! Can' t wait to catch up on what I've been missing. I always enjoy your stuff. Jennifer

Not quite sure what you mean by
"hope you have not had a bad fall"
you mean the season or...
my balance?
Was that your way of saying you think I'm not right?
Then again, maybe you ARE right.
Most of my poetry is unbalanced, slightly askew.

Don't feel bad, a lot of poetry makes no sense to me either.
I think a lot of poets think poems should be unintelligible.
That is why I try to write simple poems that average people
can understand.

Jennifer,
Thank you for your kind words. I seem to write in fits and starts these days as inspiration comes and goes like the morning tide. I increasingly find music a vibrant source of inspiration. A few days ago I listened to the Warsaw Concerto and realised how it could stimulate the imagination which a profound sense of drama, violence and suffering. Let's keep writing. Maybe one day we will be famous, not that I search for fame, as recognition will suffice.

Hello Keith!
Haven't been much on WOL lately, as been v busy with a much needed holiday, (no internet), and family health matters. Just wanted to say how much I liked your latest on Poetry Plus. By Which We are Known, A Silver-framed Photo, and especially Drenched in Duplicity. Fantastic title too. Was also v impressed with your review of Poems of the East. I have always liked and admired your writing, from the start, that is October 2017, when I joined WOL, and couldn't understand why at that time there was so little response! There was one about the sea some time ago, which I thought was fantastic. I'll try and find it again. Delighted that you are now being appreciated as deserved. All the best, Jennifer

Kelvin,
Thank you for commenting on my poem. It is a fact of human existence that hope always breaks through at times when we are brought to our lowest ebb. I am sure that you have heard the saying that hope springs eternal in the human breast. I believe this to be true, but where does this hope come from?
