Hi Cate, yep, I realised you realised (this is sounding funny, isn't it?) it was Middle English but I did a bad explanation of why I used it! There are connections and connotations that seem to have been weakened over the years but the power of the original (aided by the spelling) seems somehow as vivid. Thank you again xx

Hello Cate, thank you so very much for your comment and for staying with the poem. I decided to use Middle English phrases with contemporary English in an attempt to capture the connection the language used to have with mystery, otherness. And I really like your Biting the Bullet piece, too -- it is powerfully musical and haunting. Moxy xx

It was so lovely meeting you too! I sent a photo to George and Isobel - hopefully one of them will pass it along to you.

Cate, thank you for taking the time to read and comment so nicely on 'C'est la vie...'
It was a bit of a challenge to write given it had to be about ten different people, and only five words per line.

Hi Cate,
Thanks for visiting "Neil" and your comments. I guess it's a story that's haunted me all of my life. It was a strange and somehow comforting experience to write about him and share it with people. I guess the truth of the story makes it more powerful. Perhaps truth is, as they say STRONGER than fiction. I'm pleased it touched you.
Regards,
A.E.

Cate, thanks for your comments on my poems. That's just the kind of criticism I like to hear.If I were more skilful I'd be able to blend poetry into the narrative seamlessly, but as you say, it's too prosaic in parts.

Hi Cate, Thanks for your comments on ';-P'. Yes some people are conjoined with their phones arn't they... they are worshiped objects for us as are those blackberry things. Are we missing something here? are people more interesting / important?

Hi Cate
Druids are on the whire side of the night...these wee little beastie demons... were deadly, evil and whilst red in colour they were black hearted and satanic.
Hope you sleep well after all that.
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments.

Hello Cate
How lovely your comments are, almost as sad as the poem.
I agree with every thing you say, the world becomes a frightening place for many of us as we grow confused and infirm.
Thank you once again.

Hiya Cate. Thank you for the comment on my protection poem. I wrote this at christmas and when I read your beautiful 'If I Could' it reminded me of it, so I went and found it in my notebook. I love that they are on the same theme....maybe we are on the same wavelength as Janet said earlier in the month. Glad you enjoyed it, I really loved yours.

Thanks for the kind words about my Uncle Fester.
I've been doing this as a performance piece about a month but support it by revealing books with Fester's Old Title crossed out and Bill Shakespeare's replacing it. I thought it needed this help so I was bit loath to post it bare, as it were.
I'm wrestling with the audio files at home so if I'm successful I'll try to add a reading to it.
Also just read If I Could. Beautiful. Mine are teenager/early twenties now, but the old saying is very true; "When they're young they break your arms and when their older they break your heart".

Hi Cate,
thanks for your comment on 'Metal Tiger Roars in.'
To be honest there wasn't much actual research done, it's a subject i'm interested in so was aware of the animals associated with the Chinese horoscopes.
I did work hard though on the syllable counts and trying to make it an interesting read for others too. I appreciate your feedback and if it's going to be performed i suppose i better do it soon or it will no longer be a valid subject. :-)

Hi Cate
It was great to meet you last week, along with the rest of the clan.
Gaudete is very much a favourite of mine, and you were particularly good.
I loved the comment you left with the photo of me by myself, when you refer to the fog. I think the photo was taken in the fog. Even I'm not sure whether it's me. Perhaps I look better from a distance.
Even with Isobel, there's only one person worth looking at (and it's not me). Why do I always look like a dribbling idiot? Rhetorical question.
I thought Isobel's reading of my poem was terrific. Just wish I could have listened to it myself, but I go a bit blank when I get on a stage.
Hope to see you again soon
xx Steve xx

Thanks Cate for your comments. Yeah, I used yesterday to rework that poem significantly and that's the key I think - just spending more time on the arrangement. Time - something we rarely allow ourselves to just think and slow down a bit!
