I don’t think I would be if I’d voted Leave, Brian.
The government pursuing a trade deal in return for freedom of movement.
Commitments given to EU nationals allowing them to stay.
The lies about funding for the NHS
The prospect of the country being set back 50 years according to Rees-Mogg
The bolo punch no-one saw coming of the Irish border.
Outstanding financial commitments to the EU.
It must all look a bit like Remain Lite to you.
I bet it’s not what you thought it would be.

Hi Shirley,
Thanks for your words.
I hope you can learn to live with your anxiety and that it doesn't overcome you. I too have suffered and suffer from anxiety. I try to be aware of it and learn to accept it is a part of me, and try to move on from there.
Take care of yourself,
Jon

Hey Don, thankyou for reading my work and commenting/liking it. You always give me good feedback that I can work with and improve with. It's also nice to have someone out there who understands you as well.
Thank you for being supportive from the beginning of my journey on this website.
Also, your work is brilliant and so relatable, and at other times amusing. Keep at it, people definitly like it!

I am okay with the roller coaster it creates for now don't you worry. I just hope it slows down soon! ?
I wanted to use imagery to properly try to emphasise on aspects. I think mental health can be scary, but it can also be okay to. Currently had half an idea for poem about the pro's, after a beneficial mood swing earlier that resulted in me being very productive ?

I was interested to see how your mind changed things after the line break. Unleash your mind and it can surprise you where it goes. As Jessica Masterson said
"The next time your mind wanders, follow it around for a while" ?

Yep Ferris that's pretty much where it started (although I think it was siesta where the kids wouldn't leave me alone rather than a morning wake-up). Then it turned a bit dark.
Not sure how that happened.

Your title is apt. Mine also has been a rollercoaster ride but with the help of many my rollercoaster has now slowed and I'm enjoying the ride. It sounds like yours is still 'out of control' which is not good.
Extreme oscillations are not good. We don't want thoughts of suicide creeping in.
On the poetic side,I like your imagery and the rhyming works well. The last exclamation 'full stop' I really like ?

P.S. . .this is one great poem. The 'shrieking whetstone' made for excellent imagery, and the entire thing is rife with reflection, emotion, and life lessons condensed into lines. Nice job.?

John - we're coming at it from different angles. You are assuming, even hoping, it will be disastrous. I am expecting an initial downturn followed by success. I am also expecting that British people, regardless of how they voted, are essentially proud of this country - rightly so - and will work to make independence a success.
We're leaving John.

Hey, David,
My apologies for taking so long to respond--I often go a little silent when I find things hard to explain.
It is a sort of statement. I wrote this weeks ago and hadn't planned on posting it because it just feels too personal. But, I did anyway and here I am.
As far as the title goes, I changed it just before posting. I meant it to refer to "awkward silences" and hoped it might serve as a sort of pointer to the deeper meaning. I keep things vague, purposely, but I don't want it to seem as if I'm just throwing words hoping to hit something.
Your comments are completely appreciated. You really are an original...

Hi Ferris...at the risk of this becoming a private conversation between the two of us...
I have three children...my son, a leaver, was first in the queue at the polling station; my two daughters, both remainers, couldn't be bothered to vote and have whinged about the result ever since. We, the leavers, won that referendum by default and we are scared stiff of another vote because my daughters and others will mobilise themselves.

Let's be brutally honest...immigration was the really big issue. Whole towns or parts of towns are no longer recognisable from what they were. Although EU citizens can migrate to any other EU country they tend to come to the UK due to the language, freedom, employment, culture, and dare I say it...housing and social benefits.
Economic factors didn't really come into it with people who often had little to lose from a downturn.
If only those left wingers and students could have been arsed to go down to the polling station...

The point I was making,MC, is that is was total foolishness to vote for an outcome no-one knew. Well, what we have now is the reality of outcome from Brexit - a complete dog’s dinner. I assume you don’t disagree on that. Even the champion of Brexit, Jacob Rees-Mogg, has said that we may not see its benefits for 50 years. Let me translate that; Rees-Mogg is saying Brexit will set us back 50 years.
So, I ask you, “Would a wise man vote for that?”. The answer he would give is “I didn’t know that would be the outcome”. My point entirely.
