The science of time has long intrigued us. Indeed, it has often
been subjected to diligent research and ongoing questions about
its very nature. Not least, the connection between time and
ageing/death/renewal in all aspects of nature. Why does time
seem one-way? The question still fascinates us and we are no nearer knowing the answer than H.G Wells, whose book "The
Time Machine" was so popular in his own day.

Introducing poetry to youngsters is a most worthwhile exercise
in adding quality to a life. The enthusiasm of the teacher is paramount and can be the portal through which young minds
pass to discover a treasure chest that will enrich their existence.
Adapting poetry to the audience in question is a vital aspect.
Whilst R.L. Stevenson's verse might capture a young child's
imagination. an older youngster might be more able to go with
more mature content, such as the war poems of Sassoon
and Owen. The reward for any teacher must surely be the
responses to the words chosen to pull a class into a world
of his/her choosing.
I can readily imagine a teacher appearing suddenly in front of a
class and declaiming in a loud theatrical tone to shock and
surprise. Like an actor on stage seizing an audience by the
collective scruff of the neck.
"Good morning, good morning," the general said,
When we met him last week on our way to the line..."

I appreciated this heartfelt poem, Larisa. It is so tragic that a country which has produced so many great writers, artists and musicians is now instrumentalised into a war machine invading a neighbouring country.
I pray for everyone caught up in this horror and hope that somehow it will end soon.

awareness...from a photo model seizing her chance to film legend
adorning product that reached a far wider audience. She was
game and reached the very top of her own chosen game.

If the plus tally outnumbers the minus tally, then you are ahead
in the game that is this life. If your kind actions exceed your cruel
ones then the same applies as we are buffeted by the endless
winds of chance and circumstance.

Pithy and pleasing! I am reminded of the tale of a US naval
vessel in port that displayed the flag signal "Second to None"
for all to see.. Into the same port came a British naval vessel
that was seen to display the flag signal "None". Perfect! 👍

As a small "c" conservative, I have two lingering memories of
Labour in power. The boast about making the pips squeak amongst voters and the farewell jibe about leaving no cash in
the government account when giving way to the incoming Tory administration. Thus, the concept of Starmer et al becoming
dependable guardians of the nation's finances is hard to envisage! Promises from politicians are like alibis provided by
lawyers' imaginations to convince the credulous in court. And
as a former very prominent lawyer, Starmer is well placed for
awareness in that particular respect.

I wanted to convey a kind of sickness requiring immediate action similar to that which a human experiencing a medical emergency might need.
Like most of my thoughts there is no answer just questioning. I don't necessarily intend to suggest our planet is in its death throes, I have limited comprehension of the crisis we may be in...only that there seems to be something out of sync with patterns of climate and geological behaviour. I inform myself by listening to scientists with opposing views and pay attention to their evidenced conclusions.
I disregard social media and those corporates with vested interests. Also those who glibly pass everything off as exclusively cyclical, everything dies some day, one day.
Irrespective, thank you for your reading if you passed by.
David.
