Hi Jason,
There's something here I can't express in words. I'm not sure this is the best way to put it on paper, but it seems to fit in a certain way.
Thanks for your response )

Mayor? I thought he was Mare, now put out to pasture. A very big one it appears. Seems he's got into some fisticuffs with other mares and fillies. Silly me. What would I know?

This is the sort of word picture that prose can serve so well. That
said, I'd probably enjoy a version in rhyming verse just as much if
not more so as a committed "rhymer" myself..

In my old line of work days off arrived with "shift-work" irregularity
and Monday was (and is in retirement) just another day. But I used
to enjoy the early turn entitlement (up at 5am) that allowed me to
watch the bleary-eyed masses pour out of the underground exits
while I looked forward to my approaching breakfast break.

This may come off sounding glib and trite, but someone needs to start this discussion:
If equality exists at all, it would not require empowerment, only vigilance.

Hi JC - my email told me there were two comments today-02/09/19- on your old blog "Old, Racist and Thick". When I logged on to read them, I discovered that your entry of that title had been removed and
that only GS's comment was visible to read. No attribution to the

Thank you Martin for your comment at my poetry "Partition: Nightmarish Verity" It was the largest mass exodus in the history. Loots, Riots, rape and so many mass inhuman activities, bloodshed happened in India and Pakistan. If we talk about figures the loss of life was approx. ranging between 2lakhs to 20 million. Hindus and Sikh moved to India while Muslims escaped to Pakistan for safety. Even though seven decades has passed yet the bitterness is still there between two nations.
Even if I try I can't share the horror of partition in poetry. I so wished if this poetry was fictional but unfortunately it was not so.

Hi chrystel, just wanted to say that the reason I said I would try and live up to the line, "Poets see the beauty of the glass," is because, not only is it a truly beautiful sentiment, but also a really keen philosophical insight. I read that and thought, "Now there is something that would genuinely be worth trying to do, not worrying about whether my glass is half full or half empty, but just appreciating how beautiful it is to have a glass at all."
Just wonderful writing.

Tachycinetas is the latin for the swallows genus but once you suggested that it was the sound I felt that that felt right as well...and now the Chinese translation captures the feeding aspect.
Language is amazing.

Trevor,
this poem has so much to digest for the readers who in their turn will interpret what you have written. There seems to be a touch of reminiscence as you ponder on Kent and then speak of returning northwards. I sense, although could be wrong, that there is a feeling of dislocation, of hankering after a better past. I am intrigued by the poem and shall re read it again later today.
Thanks
Keith

OK, Smarty Pants, I meant whether it was buried under clothes or not. Most people would not likely lift a shirt or pull down underwear, to access their own navel randomly. Or flirtatiously. On their own.

I'm having trouble Cynthia
I cannot find my navel
I'm sure it was there last time
I looked under the table
I said I am in charge of you
Come out and show yourself
It sits and sulks and won't come out
Tucked in it's navel shelf
Sheesh! Cynthia. I tell it I'm in charge
and it just cowers on it's shelf. Perhaps
I should have glossed over the 'navel if handy' line.......

Cynthia,
This morning, before dawn, I was out with the dog and smoking a cigarette, taking in all the wondrous sounds in the darkness. And when I turned and glanced at the lit kitchen window - there was a moth ticking away at the glass. Your poem brought that moment back to life.
Thanks,

I wish I could say where thoughts come from. What might be the motivation. But I can't. And yet, some 'reflections' do seem sincere enough, common enough , to consider 'sharing'. I never - ever - think of sharing as a 'contest'. More like 'communication'. I really do like people and all their diverse ways. All of us so different and so alike at the same time.
And no rose again. I don't know what I have to do. Sorry.
