conserved..

they'll conserve your energy to protest to be "better" used on work to improve wealthy households..

we'll remain conservative in the expression of our opinions so that we may retain our places upon wealthy thresholds..

A lot of questions here that many have asked..some of us do what we can, some of us are merely cogs in their gears..most of us are both..

thanks, NotImportant,

Thanks so much Martin. This is one I sweated over, to get the metre even especially, and I researched the geography from a great book called The Rivers of London by Nicholas Barton . I'm pleased you got the "drift" of it !

Just caught this fresh off the press, Martin. Everything makes sense to one who was actually scared of water, but felt compelled to visit such pools, which were of course common at one time. The atmosphere was unique - I can't forget the sound of pattering wet feet on tiles. The moments of launching and the facefuls of bracing spray, etc etc.

A refreshing and lovely poem.

This is really a nicely balanced piece Stu.

The line.....
"I wish I could tell you how scared I am".......

screams off the page to me!

The list of inanimate objects reminded me of Reggie Perrin.

Good work Stu

thanks both. i agree michelle, pure truth is impossible to attain. i spent the first half of my life trying to be the person i thought others would like most. its quite freeing when you stop and be yourself, although it brings its own problems!

Lynn - make the most of being able to criticise our UK
politically employed. It is called freedom of speech.
You are probably not aware that it has been reported
that on the 6th May the European Court of Justice
ruled there is no right for anyone to complain about or point out the failings or wrongdoings of the European
Commission - giving the EC the right to punish "individuals who damage the institution's image or reputation".
It has also been pointed out that the "Enabling Act of
1933" allowed free speech to be abolished in Germany...
a freedom not restored until the end of WW2.
Uneasy/queasy anyone?

Hello you! Glad you found the humour, Anita. I was experimenting with cutting out the scribble on napkins, backs of envelopes, stood in the kitchen and went straight through my phone. The last verse (which I think you will appreciate) should read and I let the predictive take over... "then a boy walks in with a cushion on his head". RTI

Hey, Ray,

I was talking with my brother several years ago..the radio playing in the background. A commercial comes on to advertise some kind of anger management program..

"Do you want to stop those embarrassing angry outbursts?" blahblahblah..if you've heard one, you've heard them all..

So my brother says, "I don't want to stop the outbursts..I want to stop the embarrassment."

Me too.

Thanks, Ray,

Thank you for your kind words. This was the easiest/hardest pome i've ever written. sat on the teen cancer ward.. it was a pure stream of consciousness took about three or four minutes. Based entirely on emotions felt.

David I don't know how the Docs and nurses do this, they give so much love along with their care. It exhausted me walking into the room. with all the pain and beauty.

Lynn what a beautiful thing that you have given me back.

Ray thank you. "Both hands outstretched"... i'll remember those words!
