It does 'feel' cold.
Nice one.

Re Collision Course - thanks for commenting. I wrote this yesterday and didn't really like it. It's not a very "me" poem maybe. I did ponder long and hard about "cum" as it's a word I don't like the sound of! As to gender specific, I guess I was looking on blood as being more of a woman's word somehow.

Amazing what the mind's eye can conjure up in a moment of lethargy? (if i may use this word?)
The vision of dust-mites in multiples made my skin crawl but i agree with Cynthia, it's a great poem. I like the individual thoughts coupled with images.

Super, Isobel! Like a butterfly out of a chrysalis this poem steps into a different world.

And, yes, Dave, I too think Isobel should be included in WOLOP choice.

I think this is fabulous. Ideas and minute observations which are visible and invisible, cheek to jowl, joined with finesse. The precise words/diction are provocative.

It is good, Ann. I guess 'cum' must mark it a woman's viewpoint. To be honest, for the universality of this idea, I wouldn't use 'cum' to make it gender specific.

Best before end had some good images in it. I listened to the recorded piece too and you have a mellifluous diction which for a midlander is quite hypnotic. You've worked really hard at your poetry and I know from my own book launch and tour it is harded to maintain an identity than to get one so I want to congratulate you on your successes mate.

Keep in touch and hope to see you in cov one day.

I'm going to post (just for you) a poem on a yorkshire fellow I wrote about called "the blooding of charlie pike.

That's not a hint for you to comment but if you want to read it then its on today's blog.

Thanks for your comment on tree people.

Perhaps you should consider moving far away from Mordor....

Bike - Thanks for comment Win. Wasn't sure about the handkerchief verse. "I want to be your hankie" sounds a bit daft maybe? I debated whether to say snot rag! Maybe that would have been going too far in female debasement due to adoration concept of poem! x

Naughty but nice Banksy. I bet the only gaps you find now are in your hairline or teeth... in fact looking at the evolution of the species, you might just struggle to fit a palm anywhere, let alone without touching. After reading you and Cynthia, I definitely feel inspired to write something risque... xx
Some women just do have that particular "gap" morphology.
Write away - we're all waiting to hear what women really want - we now know what cynthia wants ;)

Hi cynthia - irony - in both yours & my poems (vanilla) - its difficult to know how much to tell the reader - I've been accused of being both too obtuse & then again too obvious - it is a difficult balance to get right. I liked your poem because sometimes it's good to hear a woman talk dirty & just come out with it & say what she actually wants. In my poem the last verse is the reply from the woman saying that Her desires are darker still.

I think you've demonstrated by now, Izz, that WOLOP isn't an ego trip, but something you're doing for the common good. For February at least, I propose that the rule that we can't vote for you be scrapped, as this is too oustanding a poem not to be in the mix. Any seconders?

Cynthia, thanks for your generous and thoughtful comments on The Tide and the Light. You're right, it has taken some time to emerge in this form. A version of the first stanza was written as a poem in its own right three years ago, a paean of praise to the modernist De La Warr Pavilion at Bexhill; my impressions on seeing it when I was alone. Last year I added the rest.
