Hey up Ann! have just read discussions on possibility of reducing poems, and read your agreeable comments-good God! was,nt it Hitler who used to burn books he did,nt like? I thought poetry itself was about freedom of writing? and someone doesnt like 'friend' groups??? that comment speaks volumes does it not? and the very thought of scrolling down-phew! how tiring!dictatorial elitism rears its old head once more.If postings are lessened, please feel free to email your poems to me-I would take great pleasure in reading-everyone.Personally I shall always try my upmost to support this terrific site, and continue being open hearted-to everyone on here-with absolute respect-cheers Ann-Stefan-xxpsst! say nowt-yer might get taken out at dawn and WASTED!

Hi Chris, I'm going to be honest with you. After many years on the poetry scene in Bristol I've become quite jaded with a certain style of performance poetry, BUT I thought this was excellent. Truly excellent. Most people ramble on too long or forget their point or, to be frank, chat utter shit. I thought this was succinct (enough), poignant and delivered brilliantly. I also like the sentiment. Following Diana's death I wrote a piece about the death of my grandad the same week which had a similar point but yours is much better. Nash

this is so beautifully written. i love the simplicity in your imagery close to true beauty.
i have often asked about the ant question.
i wrote a haiku about it which asked if our earth is a giant that we cannot comprehend as a living being because of its sheer scale...what are we to the miniscule life in the moss on the barks of trees...and how vast is the space between us...and what bodies orbit us...like the stars?
its so nice to meet someone who thinks the same. ive had many a smart insult directed at me for thinking about giants and ants from people at church usually...not that i should expect much else from them...only this guy was from africa and a true spirit.. i was so dissapointed when he laughed along with all the others there who couldnt understand me.
ah kealan its lonely at the top eh?

Nicky, I nearly croaked when I saw your message. How could you have known I've been thinking of you so much! I fully intended to make contact today - meant to last week but got caught up with children. I'm so glad all is well. The final stages of pregnancy are very trying (sort of coupled with 'O Lord! It's going to start all over again. When will I ever be ME!'). I am only empathising through my daughter's triple births. I had 'two for one', and chose not to risk another egg-set of possibly three; the chance factor was very high. Write as you can, for it's marvellous therapy for damn near everything. Carry a pad and pencil everywhere, especially in the bath (presuming you might actually get the odd one.) I'm being silly now.
Lots of love,
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia, how are you? Wish I could say that I was in possession of a beautiful baby girl, but still waiting,. Feel Like I have been pregnant for 10years now and not the mere 10months that it is. I can't even write at the moment, everything is hormonal dribble, or hot air - ha, I am like a ballon that is ready to pop!- I am reasonably well though, if worn out and a mere shadow of my former self!! I am hoping that Kara Fe (fe with an accent over the 'e') Burrows should be here very shortly, and then at least I can get back to normal, even if general life will be upturned again. Once again, hope you and yours are well and will keep you informed. We have had some really bad viruses in thr computer and when it is working doesn't help me at the minute that it is in the attic bedroom,I need my laptop back. Take care, nicky xx

Thanks Ray. I will definitely have a think about the 'heartbeat' comment, you may be onto something there. The separation of 'staring' is a nod to the mersey poets who are particular favourites of mine, it's not meant as a surprise as such, just to draw your eye back to it to accentuate the meaning of the word. A cheap trick, but I like it. Glad you like though and thanks again for your very constructive comments. Much appreciated, Nash

Hello Nash. Like the title, "Your surveillance equipment" is clever and "Dust colliding"is sublime, well, the whole of that verse is pretty good. Wonder if you could finish on heartbeat, final verse isn't adding that much, I don't think.Do you mean to separate "star" and "ing"? There's enough surprises without that. Good poem.

knowing you, cynthia - the idea behind this could be taken about four different ways - lol.. but it's certainly interesting and quite different from your other stuff (well some off it).
if i am honest - i am not wild about the last two lines 'oh, oh / cruel light' as possibly cutting it off before that may make it sharper and to the point (lol) x
