And don't forget Pepy's' diary entry for January 21st 1661 - "It is strange what weather have had all this winter: no cold at all; but the ways are dusty, and the flyes (sic) fly up and down..."(etc)
We are historically used to being surprised by the elements in this benign and blessed old country of ours.

I turned 50 last year, and l know that's not old by todays standards but you do start to recognise your mortality, and the creeping hand of age on your shoulder but, you also know the things you've learned by bitter/joyful experience, it's a trade off I suppose. This beautifully illustrates that thought. Absolutely love it.?

This is a beautiful poem Trevor. Well-penned. As a father of four daughters, I identified with every word. One day back when they were small, and I was young. John

This poem is so delicate so beautifully written, it is a love story that I can relate to. The young do not 'own' love and nor does love die with advancing years, it increases.
Thank you so much for putting it into words.

Cynthia,
This is a poem to lift hearts as it brims with joy and optimism. My garden resembles your description yet I am fearful of cutting the lawn as I might damage the snowdrops and crocuses which have all come to life and add such colour.
I hope all goes well for you
Keith

I know it's the tail end of the month, but that's OK. I have a moment to share today, and maybe not four days from now.
I have a huge 'thumbs up' from the Christie operation, three or four more chemo sessions for unseeable cancer cells, and regular checks thereafter. I am a blessed lady.
And I'm still writing. Hallelujah!

"in the blue- greeen meadow,
of my silent soul"
What a beautiful opening line, it immediatly calms and sooths, then to end with -
"for the aching world to behold it's beauty"
I feel both soothed and saddend.
It is an 'achingly' beautiful poem.

Dorothy you've put John M's poem
On a level we need to think about
We kill off these animals which are of benefit
To our natural world, there is no doubt
But these kill-offerers don't give a toss
Kill the fox, cull the badger shoot the crows
They're just little grown-up Terences
Adding to our problems and our woes
Come on the giant... ?

Congratulations on this award which is richly deserved. I too am a great fan of Eiolt, Auden, Whitman and Ginsberg as they all inspire me.
Your poem is an interwoven tapestry of beauty and imagination.

If only a few lashings would stop the suffering for the masses, I think there would be a long line of wrongdoers willing to endure the pain. Great piece of poetry Mae, made even better through your reciting. Thanks for sharing! ?

Thanks for your comments on "tonight" Ray. Its a strange world to live in sometimes. I'm a great fan of Camus and I hope he would have appreciated this too.
Sometimes in social situations I find the banality hard to deal with, I know what you mean about feeling outside. With the urge but no capacity to be quite "inside". Thanks again. Phil.
