Console yourself, John...Some happy otter is
snuggling up to her boy-friend singing:
Fallink in luv aken
belly vull of vish
Darlink vot you vish
...I can`t `elp it.
By the way: The size of the bloody thing! What is it - an embarrassed shark? (blushing because you`re holding it)

Hello John, re; Chattering of Twites, I'm here in the UK (Woking) when soon after hearing their unmistakable sound (which had everybody peering into the tree)I got home and switched on the telly and was astonished to hear the same sound albeit I did not get a good visual because of the dark. I am a member of a wildlife group and will run it by someone if I get the chance. We are getting some unusual birds here though having seen cormorants in canals etc. We also have quite a variety of hawks. Appreciate your comment and sorry to hear about your fish stocks.

Very clever. Very good. Pacey trochaic rhythm.
It seems to speed up in the telling in the middle. Intentional or me being stupid? I like the circularity of it. It "puts it to bed", literally.
I bet you know the one word I'm unsure about....??

Dear Mr Stockbroker. superb stuff, bang on the money (sorry). Exactly right. Dont know if you saw Ed Balls on Question Time twisting and squirming trying to run with the capitalist fox and hunt with the tented hounds? Pathetic really. well done Benjamin Zephaniah for pointing out clearly that people are fed up with exactly what Mr Stockbroker's song says.
Superb.

By request, typos:
Besides it(apostrophe)s a sure way to stop their glances rude
Tortured souls who firsthand had their live's robbed (don't need that apostrophe)
They stood, as prisons more then a century (should that be 'than'?)
It(apostrophe)s enough to make survivors go insane
The sad thing is it(apostrophe)s still hushed up not open
See ya next week!

Charlotte - that's incredibly short-sighted of you to say the least. Do you think we should all just shut up and accept it then? Take one up the arse because 'it's all been said before'?!
We have voices, pens - if no one says anything at all, then you deserve to lose your grant money, your housing benefit, to pay more tax on that poetry book you just brought out. Lose your vote as well eh? Might as well, counts for nothing? Lucky that you do actually have the vote mind, given you're a woman. If other women and men hadn't fought bloody hard for years, you wouldn't have any say whatsoever.
If this seems a fierce response, it's because it is. Political apathy boils my piss quite honestly.

There's still some typos ;p Never mind me, I'm a terrible pedant.
Okay, I understand re the phrasing now. Thanks :) Not that you have to explain anything to anyone, but it did seem different to the rest of the poem.
Hey, would be great to see you at the Wigan WOL! It's next Thursday, at the Tudorhouse pub - erm, I think it's not far from the bus station. I'm not a local though so not the best person to ask.
If you're on facecrack, btw, WOL have a page on there, as well as the Tudor event. Just search on there for Wigan WOL and it'll come up :)

2 stories:
Last Saturday I went with my trailer to a local stables to bag up some horse muck. When I got there there was 8 bags of the stuff already bagged in the driveway. I loaded them in my trailer. As I was about to drive off a van arrived. I realised as I was driving away that I must have been taking the muck he had bagged earlier! I drove home thinking smugly, "God is good".
The next day I noticed piles of scales beside my garden pond and was horrified to see that 70 of my 80 fish were gone - some koi carp worth hundreds of £s. I had been losing them over a period of a fornight and not noticing. I reckoned it must have been an otter or a mink.
So:-
I lost a thousand pounds worth of fish and gained 8 bags of shit.
Yes - God has a sense of humour!

Aha - right from the start I was thinking of the Magdalene laundries - and then I get to the end and it's stated.
I liked this, but I THINK it may perform better than it reads, as there doesn't seem to be a definite flow as such and that may well come out when you read it yourself - sometimes these things do.
There's some unusual placing of words, like 'harm did' and 'glances rude'. Is there a reason why you arranged them like that?
There are a number of typos in this - worth going through again and fixing...'lives's robbed' is one, and there's a capital E in 'Its Enough to make survivors go insane'. You might have a reason for that too but I can't see any significance.
It's a story that needed telling so nice one for that. I remember watching the film The Magdalene Sisters and just being ripped in two by it. Actually sobbing. I believe that the reality was in fact MUCH worse than depicted in the film - which is horrifying.
