Just noticed your entry, sorry-still getting used to this site., its "lost in" pretty much ( like all Russian sound rows, for example) but its got some new ideas and some of them I find interesting.. I ve got a lot work to do with translating my poetry but I am enjoying it so far. Its hard work through..

Hello Kathryn and welcome to WOL.
I liked you poem but think that children's poetry is a really difficult genre to write in. To me they almost need to be like a pantomime (something in there for the adults too). Good luck and can't wait for more posts.

love the new style, direct and honest observations enable us all to get stuck into the words, monologue and poem fused, a performance slant, the reiteration sounds louder line by line, keep tapping into these themes Chris

Bienvenue chez nous, Michel.
wonderful alliteration and imagery.
not to mention such erudition: I had to look up whipperwill and procellous.
one line had me puzzling though, and wondering if there was a word missing from it (find, perhaps?):
those who could now themselves strewn
did you write this in English? Do you have it in French, too?
J'attend ta réponse.
cheers

Would that we could all live lives of such vibrancy and warmth; would that each humnan life was full of music, colour, laughter, shining eyes etc.
I fear too many of us live diminished lives - of the sort you suggest with the coffin metaphor of the poem (and the pic).
If, in reading it, people are tempted to break out of their coffins and live a little, then it will have done a lot
I think it has the power to do that.Steve.

Yeah, that's fine. I feel 'nowt' detracts from the power of the poem but as with all assessments, mine is as subjective (and as faulty) as the next person's.

..thanks for the comment John...yes, I wrote it very quickly and so won't be changing any words (including 'nowt')..if you look at chris co's comment he advised lots of edits which I don't understand...you can't edit a sudden verbal outburst, so why this?..having said that I am re-assessing stuff I wrote in my 20s...but I wasn't so concerned with life's mistakes and errors then..!

I missed this one as it passed through Andy, Watching snow fall evokes these feeling in me too, I always thought it was the excitment of the ever present child within, but as the years advance I realise it is more than that, it is the peace which falling snow brings with it that is also to be cherished. Great poem.TC

I love this Beulah!
The ending is powerful, and I totally agree...
'what ever I do I do alone
because the one I want
to sit, to stand , to walk
to be with me
is not here
and if I should die
I'd rather die alone
than to have you
when I cannot have her beside me.
i love you Fidelity..'

Hi Neil-extremely good poem.Wonder if there is an element of becoming hardened to suffering in this person.Dangerously all too common methinks, sadly. But the gloomy doomy news sometimes has that affect? But definitely a very good poem in its self-thank you-Stefan

Hi Beulah. Thanks for your recent comments. I think all good poetry should sound "familiar" and to an extent it should appeal to the inner child. Thank you for your comments which I find mostly cryptic and difficult to interpret. But ta anyway. Not sure that the type face in "As Is. . "is the easiest to scan but hey ho.

Very touching, and a bit sad too, the last line made me think a little too, because the poem was more complex than it first seemed to be...

I like this one too. Not sure that many men know how to articulate the important things - but that's maybe a jaundiced view. Like your new style Star Garter.

I'd agree that discussion is good, and say that even that banter and mickey-taking are good in regard to other people's beliefs. What I was objecting to in this one were a) the idea of claiming superiority, and b) the strawman arguments (i.e. not finding out what another person's beliefs, making an assumption as to what they are, and then arguing against your own assumption).
