Hi Rachel, thanl you for your comments on Cosmic Fairy. glad you like it. its happy, unlike my other work. a bit better for the festive season.
I love your work too. and am particulary struck by your piece "dad" - brilliant, striking and very sad and touching. Wonderful similies and metaphores in there too, they build up such a strong image of the dad. well done. take care and have a great christmas!

Thomas, your Bio is considered and honest, sharing with us those things about you that really matter. Second paragraph - ace!
And with your posted poems I so appreciate your care with common spelling and grammar, just editting in general. Comments are more relaxed, of course, and prone to hasty mistakes - no biggee. By the way, Ann's advice about spaced blogs is absolutely right - great for you to have a friend on board already. And she came on to WOL like a tornado, too.

Hi Andy... Thank you for your comments on Decree Absolute. well done for spotting that is is particularlly bitter and certainly barbed. Thats certainly what I intended from the person who is the subject in this poem. On a broader note, your comments regarding 2 sides to every story are certainly true.and I am sure another piece could be written from the other side. In these matters both sides are victims to some extent. With respect, perhaps you are making a mistake here and superimposing the words of this piece onto a real life situation. It does not relate to any particular person or circumstance in my life. It is of course the beauty of writting that gives the poet with imagination the freedom and right to explore imagined situations. Win

Sharp imagery in here, good the way you wove within the words the feeling of time, Nice erotic touch too with the ' I will rise baroque in my salt drenched lingerie', but few would be in a hurry to be aquainted with those fangs though ha ha ;-)) TC.

521 Warrington Road, Spring View, Wigan, in the early 1960s. Toliet paper was for toffs and jessies.
In our outside lav at the end of our yard, a short stretch of washing line, held in place by rusty nails, held our arsewipes - squares of the Wigan Observer folded over.

I cant say anything that hasnt already been said Cynthia, but just want to add what a lovely innocence there is to this. Like Steve says anything so uplifting in this day and age of cynicism is to be highly valued. Cant believe you were only 17 too...... I remember writing songs at 17, but hadnt got round to poetry for poetry`s sake at that tender age!

How wonderful and reminiscent, Cynthia.
So creative at such a tender age, but the result is timeless. Brought a smile to my face.

Thanks for your comments, memories and expert angling tips! This poem originated from a dream that I wrote down the next morning, before it got away. My nephew spent his early years in Zimbabwe and developed a passion for fishing while he was out there. Maybe that's where it came from.

Starlight - it sounds like we came from similar backgrounds. Did you ever have to improvise with an empty cardboard toilet roll? Not so sure about moist wipes, but I always have rolls and rolls and rolls of loo paper all over my house now - much like shoes...You know you've arrived when you can choose the shoes and you are never stuck for paper...

This poem makes my heart feel very heavy.
It's sad to think of all those poor souls in limbo with nowhere to go.
I believe that souls in the so-named place of limbo are lost and need a little assistance to move into the light. I believe the human can enter a state of being in limbo too.
With or without sin.

What a lovely thing to say Cynthia, thanks. I think I just dream up images and combinations of words though they occur to me at the most inopportune times. I am definitely in need of some techniques though and I don't possess a quality control setting, it feels a bit 'lucky dip' a lot of the time.
Thanks again

Hi Cate
It was great to meet you last week, along with the rest of the clan.
Gaudete is very much a favourite of mine, and you were particularly good.
I loved the comment you left with the photo of me by myself, when you refer to the fog. I think the photo was taken in the fog. Even I'm not sure whether it's me. Perhaps I look better from a distance.
Even with Isobel, there's only one person worth looking at (and it's not me). Why do I always look like a dribbling idiot? Rhetorical question.
I thought Isobel's reading of my poem was terrific. Just wish I could have listened to it myself, but I go a bit blank when I get on a stage.
Hope to see you again soon
xx Steve xx
