A great piece, Holden. Beethoven's 9th may get close, or the final chorus of Fidelio?

Stephen,
Thank you for your comment. On leaving school I served for ten years in the Army which I do not regret, but now I am a convinced pacifist.

A poem which has a lot to say and all of it true. May I be as bold as to suggest that you continue to write a poem every morning and of the same calibre. This poem is my thought for the day.
Thank you

An accomplished poem, Russell. On a lighter note, I remember Greg Chappell of Australia hitting a streaker with his bat, but it didn't break. Neither did the streaker, if I remember.

Ha yes Stephen, I DID used to watch Quantum Leap. It was such a fun show. But I love cosmology documentaries these days. They're a GREAT antidote to real world stuff. I enjoy pondering on the really big questions like... there's one called Olbers Paradox.... and it's something like: IF the universe is INFINITE (and has been there forever)... then *why* is the night sky.... not FULL OF LIGHT?? It *would* be full of light.... if it had been there... forever, even tho stars do die.... because the light from **all the stars** would still be travelling and the sky would just be one massive light ball. But it's not. <--which, I find totally fascinating tbh. And I also LOVE the law of conservation of mass, where matter cannot be destroyed, it can only change down to its smaller iterations.
Hey, your wife does great work then by the sounds of it. I did similar things at break times. Sometimes I just used to stand in a toilet for the whole break time. It sounds SO sad--but I was kind of.. in my element, lol.. truly.. ๐๐

Corbyn offered a radical alternative. Perhaps the Party should have stuck with him on principle and been content with permanently holding the government to account rather than watering down their policies to gain the public vote?

Thank you Clare, Stephen and Holden. You are very kind. What a generous thing to say, Stephen, thank you very much.
'In this poor body, composed of one hundred bones and nine openings, is something called spirit, a flimsy curtain swept this way and that by the slightest breeze. It is spirit, such as it is, which led me to poetry, at first little more than a pastime, then the full business of my life. There have been times when my spirit, so dejected, almost gave up the quest, other times when it was proud, triumphant. So it has been from the very start, never finding peace with itself, always doubting the worth of what it makes.' Basho
