How odd, I was just listening to Cloudbursting by Kate Bush then landed on your reading of poem - you sound very similar! Really enjoyed the poem and very tempted to 'borrow' the conceit... :) Tx

Very appropriate as we approach another new year in which to amend some of the self-indulgences we enjoy...if we have the guts.

Lines that bring into sharp relief the truth that there is still need out there in the festive season - but, thankfully, there are
"shelters" too, funded and manned by the best of spirits.

This takes me back :)
My son was very late to talk. One of his first words was car - though he refused to articulate the C for a long, long time. He would run a car up and down the sofa for hours, just repeating ar - it's amazing the love boys have for cars and wheels - it seems to be there from birth!
This is a lovely moving poem Ged - than's for posting!

Thanks again for the encouragement
By the way when you dropped me off the other night and made the comment "you will be wrong" and I smiled and said "I know". I wasnt making light of it. I really do know....
I'd already written something that day in an email.
At times it seems that my life journey is a series of failures holding varying degrees of severity and all I have to hold me together while travelling this wonderful tapestry of almost unending fuck ups is the adhesive of good intention along with a stoicism that is almost belligerently defiant in the fact that I choose to smile at each and every fuck up and move onto the next without anxiety or anticipation. Maybe this is a victory in itself?

Thankyou, both of you. You're very right Isobel but to the degree that Poets dont make any money from poetry. What we have in this case is someone who works for the NHS but has there fingers in others pies ie working privately selling art and ideas to other hospitals/ establishments and also having a hand (complete control) in who gets awarded the contracts to have work such as this installed in such places.
Now if such a person would use this control to edit a poets work in the fashion that they would remove the Title, Note of dedication and Poets name. It would indicate that they may have a motive for this rather than it just being really bad artistic etiquette and border line disrespectful to both the myself and the nurses.
That aside this issue was only foot note Its about the work itself.
Love you Isobel XXXX

I don't recall my mother (6 children and an infant mortality) having her own mother look after her children. There is certainly truth in this poem...from personal observation. And let's just remember that tragic little girl in Portugal who didn't even have a grandparent to look after her while her own parents were out having a good time!
