To be really honest the 5-7-5 is only a western interpretation of something that is almost impossible to replicate with our alphabet and lingual style.

Well Nigel I don't bet often, but not long after I joined here I bet on 2 horses. One of called 'Poet's Pride' and the other was 'Poet's Lady' , both won first place ,reckon that poetry is the the charm!
Haiku Master Don, I love the short free style poem. I feel it has a certain impact that just gets you. If it can be a haiku all the better, but as long as it is not stated in the title that it is a haiku it's art for art's sake and it's all good, because then there are no rules.

Astral travelling I did go
lost my luggage of secret wishes
asked the Sleep Director for help
unfortunately could not find or locate
so I took Mother Earth to court
but sad to say I lost my case.

First I wrote it as the man but then thought that perhaps I was the you that left. Would it make a difference to you from whose perspective it was written or read? Would you leave without saying anything?

Don, I should have known something less practical would hit the right spot. That was more than 20 years ago in London.
These days I hand out quality, dark chocolate bars. It serves the receiver quite well, most times.

Tinder's quick-firing Aus sex lives John
Those hungering hanky-pank, craving heat
A survey's just found 1 in 3 hookups
Have sex within 24 hours of meet
It sounds like you live in wrong country
Our online chicks? all curves and truth
But maybe our fellas are desperate
(And will bed anything with tits and vagina.....)

Thalia watches over
Me while I'm asleep
Doesn't want the succubus
Seduce me (wot a creep)

The first line is 6 syllables not 5 ?? 'Free market is trash' would make it 5. hence 5-7-5 pattern.

I am a you-beaut traveler
So thought I try ast trav
I laid down on the floor (as told)
(Hang on, I need the lav)
They don't provide no toilets
On astral traveling planes
I'll have to send a letter
Must sit down and complain
So on the floor, now flat, prostrate
My eyes lightly a'closed
Why ever did I start to think
'Bout Thalia you suppose?
Thalia then she cautioned me
That those with strange-type minds
Psychologically mixed up ones
Not do this travel kind
Thanks Ruth.....you provide much inspiration - astral travel, kokology.....What next?

A cruel jockey and a headstrong horse makes for an unstable r'ship aswell..... A whip lashing too far, sounds like a clever horse! I don't agree with horses been whipped so harshly though I am good a picking winning horses sometimes. Was that a true story Nigel? You get a lot your inspiration from the news don't you.

Emilia,
I like your definition of this format as a 'Goosebumps version of poetry!' When our actions inspire others to expand, it's like the ripple effect of a pebble tossed into still water.
Trying something new, is what explorers do.
Thank you for your comment Emilia.
