Thanks for reading this poem Don and Adam.
Adam, thanks for your comment. I do think this is the only way a writer can develop a thick enough skin to not give up on writing. Obviously you can keep some of your own sentiment for what you're doing in your heart, but it's the price you pay for public exposure. We keep learning though, that is the main thing.

Our physical bond is weaker
Electrons are not shared
I'm happy, can put up with this
Our bodies lock, all bared
I know one day we'll drift apart
Cos 'lectrons we don't share
We'll both then go and look around
More body-share. All bare ?

I find not only no fault with the poem but that it exactly expresses a state of mind. What more can you do to please some readers who are averse to accepting good poetry at face value when they see it?

There is a compulsive sense of drama from the weight of repetition and all the movement is in the writing in contrast to the stillness of the subject. I think it is highly effective and can be open to interpretation.
A fine piece Adam

I enjoyed what seems to be implied, that the poet is somewhat on the outside looking in but would like to be accepted. On an observational level that can always be a danger.

Great story about the dog. My main definition of God is love and since dogs are simply the embodiment of love I have no doubt that they as angels bow their heads.
Cats also are love but a more complicated sort and since I am right now sadly throwing away some of my children's old stuffed animals as the cat decided to pee on them I am a bit filled with grief and non-fondness

Adam, Cynthia on the topic of other species having ideas I must confess I love watching dogs praying on YouTube ha,ha.
It started because we were having a conversation on praying one day and my dog at the time, lowered his head as if he was having a spiritual moment! After that we would say to him go and say your prayers and he would run off to be quite on his own and do similar stuff. No one told him, or trained him about any of that behavior and I truely believe he was a spiritual dog.He was a Pisces. So then I had to find out if other dogs reacted to the word prayer etc and went on YouTube.

Great meditations, Cynthia. Certainly inspiring of internal conversations. I was thinking about the phrase "human idea" a bit and wondering if other species have ideas or if a God has ideas since omnipotence all knowing hood would preclude novel thinking or perhaps cause an endless stream of it. Then I started thinking about endless streams. Anyway, thank you for sharing. Glad I checked in today. Habe a great one.

Ah, Graham, how wonderful to see your comment. Not another 'real' person, but the never-ending 'Cynthia Trio': ME, MYSELF and I, who have discussed and argued together since I was a child. And they/we are 'real enough', encouraging me always to 'think things through from different points of view'
I'm not bonkers - it's a conscious exercise, a mind game that has been invaluable to me my whole life. And still is. I must find an old, old OLD poem, somewhere tucked away.

Hello Cynthia, it seems ages since I commented on a CBT work.
I love the conversational element and I think you leave the reader wondering whether the conversation is with yourself or another. This alone is worthy of comment.
I was only thinking about death and the hereafter (that some people espouse) the other day whilst reading another poem. I then thought of soul and spirit which tends to exercise much of the afterlife brigade's thinking. It made me wonder whether one's soul or spirit precede life. A sort of chicken and egg scenario. If not when during life do they appear?
Many religions have a god or gods, different horses for different courses etc.
Personally, it's when I see a trait in my grandchildren and recognise my father, I know where spirit resides.
