Hi Sarah,
I'd love to expand this poem for a children's book but unfortunately I wouldn't know where to begin.
I do like writing narrative poems, some have an adult twist such as Boy what a Lady! and the Princess and the Frog (which needs a rewrite). I'm working on several storylines at the moment but it takes me a while to get them onto paper.
Thanks for your interest and if I did ever get a poem published I'd know where to come for an illustrator.

Eric really loved turtles.
So did Nick...now that I remember he had a tank with a bunch of them.
Curious...

Thanks Wayne. What a great and kind idea. Where I live the railroad is installing 10 foot steel fence from near to far. All posted with no trespassing signs. Your fault if you do. The only thing it will keep from crossing is the local wildlife that needs to. That's what is sad. In all the years that I have lived here at least 10 people have taken their lives by train, 3 of whom I knew. Walls don't help.

It's really too bad that baseball is taking a backseat to football and basketball. My mother always called it a "gentleman's game". It may be slow, but in the park - it's a sensory overload! nicely done, phantom.

hello Wayne
I'm just replying to your reply on the Christmas Turkey poem if you do decide to give it a try and need an illustrator
I would definitely be interested in doing some illustrations for you if you decide to make a children's book from this poem
have a think about it and get back to me
I think it would be a fabulous children's book
no harm in trying x?

I'm still getting the hang of the WOL website- but I think it was in relation to my "Turkey in sheep's clothing" poem. I wouldn't know how to get started with an illustrated book . However I'm attempting to set up a Youtube channel and record my voiceover with pictures etc. Early days but hopefully I'll get there soon. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my profile x

but eve, you didn't say which beach or what time? but hey, no probs I'm standing by.
My bike tyres are pumped up, my flask is filled, my speedos are towel wrapped, my salmon paste butties are all done, I've even bought a new bucket and spade I'll have you know
but if its many clicks away, give me a week or two to get there and I'll be hoping you like stone cold tea and curly salmon paste butties ?

Finely spun, evocative words. Good poetry is always a pleasure to share, whether writer or reader. Your 'subject' is universal, and so clearly captured with simplicity, whether from your direct experience or imagination.

In the UK suicide on railways is so common the railway staff have been trained to spot vulnerable people and to engage with them. So sad.

Martin,
This is a song. In my head it has a melody like a Dead Kennedy's song "Holiday Inn Cambodia." One of Eric's favorite bands. Or it could go with a melancholy country sound like The Supersuckers "Sleepy Vampire."
Thank you
