Thanks Devon, I wondered if anyone would notice that, to be honest I just thought it would look apt and didn't expect anyone else would see it.

Stunning Jason. This reminded me of Don Juan telling Carlos Castaneda that his death rides on his left shoulder. I also like the shape of it - reminiscent of a teardrop.

As Don says it can take a lot to bear what you feel about yourself. We all too easily get bound by the negative comments that are made about us or simply by no comments which we can assume all too easily as negatives thoughts. Well done in sharing this. But you have no reason to own this just as Dorothy has stated.
I look forward to reading more of your work

"stuff existing beyond a meatbag"! Great poem on the nature of reality. I often think that nothing exists without perception, play little mind games with it - so this hit me solid. Great Job!

You raise some interesting points in this poem about the effects of one culture upon another despite themselves. In 9th century Spain the different cultures of Islam and Christianity tolerated each other even in certain cities at different times. It was the moors that had embraced Greek philosophical thinking, maths and science reintroducing it into medieval Western Europe.
A wonderfully crafted poem

Wow you have opened up a big subject here around truth and what isn't. In simply terms for me it is around perception and expected perceptions by an individual. Two people no matter how much they may agree about what they see or not will rarely share the exact same perception. Crikey getting a bit deep here. Think I will stop while I am ahead.
Anyway a very well constructed and crafted poem on a thought provoking subject

The subject of death has been wonderfully described in the poem on a subject that is potentially difficult for most of us at different times. It is hard to imagine what some folk go through.

Yep and she's back! And still brilliant. Mae I absolutely love this. It's just got a beautiful, hard, cynical edge to it, like if you got a grown up to look through the looking glass and they came back and said, "Actually mate, all your sheep are wolves."

I'm sorry for your loss Graham. The poem tries to express how I feel about death. The knowledge that the only absolutely definite thing from the moment you're conceived is that one day you'll die and that, if you can, you have to try to be alright with that.
It seems to me to be almost like people and their demise are born together and seperated only to be reunited somewhere further down the line, or in some cases not so far. Those of us who get some time should consider ourselves lucky and really strive to get the most out of life, and then, hopefully, somewhere way down the line, we will meet with our demise again, but hopefully be able to welcome it as an old friend who's been patiently waiting for us, ready to reunite.

Your story certainly provides a point of view and perspective
but there are always two sides to a coin of any currency. We hear
much about Powell's "infamous" speech in which he put a voice to
the fears that saw a postwar Britain start changing from streets to neighbourhoods to larger habitations to a degree not known previously, with today's UK - but mainly England - affected to the
extent that the old closely knit social existence - good and bad -
was being dictated by outside influences. Today's Brexit situation
provides the latest example - when we have talk of Parliamentary
sovereignty as a reason to stop a "no deal" departure but no
mention of the fact that this was handed over years ago by
the incumbents of that place to the influence and control of the
EU without referral to or a mandate from the UK electorate.
The irony is that the generosity of this old land of free thinking
in accepting refugees (now more accurately "migrants" since they
by-pass other civilised lands en route here) threatens to upset
the centuries-old establishment of a society largely at ease with
itself - with violent crime and social disorder at a level not known before. Buzz words like "islamophobia" now appear to keep the
cauldron bubbling with no nod whatever given to the fact that
those holding religious belief of that sort were allowed to enter
the country in the first place and permitted to extend a religious
belief and code of behaviour at odds with that of the host nation.
When in Rome etc. seems lost on those who want to have their cake and eat it too. How can assimilation be achieved if it is
perceived as "all take and no give" in an already over-populated
entity doing its best to accommodate so many disparate demands
on its increasingly over-stretched hospitality?

Don, you do protest too much
about the lack of levity
on our lovely website
and its melancholic brevity
One would think it’s only Ozzies
who can rhyme and grin and smile
as they get a rise from pommies
thinking it’s worthwhile
By calling WOL’ers English
It’s another major faux-pas
most members are from global climes
just like where you are!
Perhaps we’re not just tickled pink
and do not share much fun
unlike you lucky Ozzie boys
we do not get much sun
So take it easy on us
don’t be a great Galah
celebrate our serious side
we come from near and far
One thing we will all smile about
as we shelter from the splashes
we’ll definitely all be British
when we smash you in the Ashes

Too bold? I don't think so...
I watched the better part of a documentary late last evening that brought up a similar idea--that there can exist a tyranny of thought in minds that refuse to be challenged.
When I heard it, I said, "A HAH!" and "of course"...
Be bold )

Your innermost soul
Takes courage and guts
But helps make one whole
Sharing on screen
Your troubles and pain
Takes courage and guts
You share, we all gain
I know you can do it
Of that I've no fear
You have got the courage
To go on, persevere

Jason, you're haiku t'was working
Me up to a sorta hot end
Her syrupy voice oozing o'er you?
While her crimson lips did, yes, descend?
What is a poor guy gonna think of
When led up this sexy-like path?
You shattered my working up visions
'Twas a dream, a let-down aftermath
