Thankyou for all your responses. I am touched. A definite no-no for death and destruction. I am pleased

Writing good rhyme is not easy
It's simply not Jack shagging Jill
I whistle along as my pen writes
Monty Python-like, out my mouth spills ?

I've always wanted to experiment with the back chorus of a song called Inchworm. There's something about it that has quite a sinister undertone I think. Just messing about with it really, 'cos I think it's fascinating.

I really enjoyed reading this poem. It moves, comfortably and satisfyingly, at the pace at which the cows are moving, the time of which (I imagine) will vary a little day by day but which is unmistakebly the time that belongs to them. Everybody may attend and watch but they must defer to the herd and learn to walk more slowly than slowly, languorously, mesmerisingly,
Really good read, thanks.

In one ten line stanza you've given
Me wealth of things to write upon
To cast my eyes around and see
Things to verse before they're gone

Can I combine Keith/Dorothy in one?
Chocolate and keith's nice raspberry ripple?
Don't want both of you getting jealous
Only two's here (but I need rhyme triple)
Hey Keith, confusion's reigning all round
Cos three is spelt just as plain 'triple'
Now Dorothy she's all in a dither
Cos your ice cream treat's spelt as a 'tripple' ?

You are talking about catharsis here. Someone who influenced me and for whom I am grateful? A few years ago I went through a rough patch. Anyone else would not have up and left. No matter what hell I put my family through they stuck by me. Regardless of what happened, they felt I was worth hanging on for. What more could you ask?

Wow Peter, I'm almost at a loss for words at the great skill you have used to capture loss of love and a life together (I hope I'm not misinterpreting you). I've had a few male friends go through divorces initiated by their wives. This has captured the intensity, magnitude and isolation of their experiences in a way that nothing else has ever done. I feel that every line is golden and wise and written with such insight. The most amazing thing I've read in a long time.

Dorothy has suggested I write about Ayers Rock and his history
Why do we call it a him
A him with a masculine gender?
Cos he's tough and stands proud like a big guy
And not like a woman real slender
Why are ocean liners named shes?
They're like Ayers, tough and stand tall
You got me there......?

Time to sip the wine again... even bruised and older grapes have value.

Worthy praise for a young woman following other notable athletic
achievements of the past - and I can go back further than most
remembering them. Shot-put, javelin, sprinting, distance running, multi-eventing...such a lot to celebrate.

Look around - what do you see?
Surely much for poetry!
A barking dog that waits alone...
A cat that prowls past on its own;
The twitching blind across the street,
The neighbour that you never meet;
The leaves that fall, the tree bereft
Its naked branches all that's left
Like arms outstretched begging for aid
Of things like these is poetry made! ?

Make something up Don. Not about your brain or what makes you tick, or poems about writing poetry, or something you've read and embellished, or anything that mentions Spike Milligan. Oh...and probably best to avoid any Temple themes as well.
Just use your imagination Don

Don,
an interesting request. Try to write about a person in your life who has contributed to the person you are. Someone who influenced you for the good, to whom you are grateful.
Chocolate is worthy of a poem but I have the distinct impression Dorothy has yet to taste the delights of Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream.
Go for it matey,
Keith

Yep Stu, have you seen the series Last man on Earth? It's a little silly, but the main character blows up huge yachts and trashes empty mansions because they hold no value with no one around to see them. Very interesting social commentary.

Rachel, it's a moment where perception, empathy and awareness works against a person. Bring able to sense their hurt, pain, withdrawal, dissatisfaction.... But being powerless to change the tide once it has turned. Very powerful, and a moment to which many can relate.
