Thanks to each of you for your thoughtful comments.

Istanbul has been keeping me inordinately busy over the past couple of days, and over these last two months I've been up and down like a rollercoaster. But, the site has been a welcome, if only temporary, escape from worry.

Have a good weekend, to each of you,

There is no 'gap'; all existence is constant and changing constantly. Energy may subside but it does not dissapear. Particle physics is a hilarious fraud. Have a nice day.

Thank you for the comment my dear friend.. My honesty will always come forth in all that I write.
Without it ' word's are meaningless to i.
I understand it may make alot of people cringe ' and not many will understand why I write about such things.
And that is ok, because I am ok with my work ?
Thank you for taking the time to read ?

See, this is what I love about the way you write, honest and clever.

It would be so easy to write a title like, "A Lady In The Street But a Freak In The Bed," and then play it safe by hinting at what that means, but by being really explicit, you're confronted by the honesty of it and even though it is very explicit it still manages to be really romantic.

Really clever Lisa, if I'd tried to write something like this it would have probably come across as clumsy smut, and yet as far as I'm concerned, you've really nailed this from all angles.

Love it.

I really really loves trees and often find them the sense of inspiration. So I am always glad to read more poetry about trees especially when they are so well crafted such as this piece.
I don't know why but I particularly love the word 'leafage'

To which food are you referring: bitter and pickled eggs (beer and hard boiled eggs) or raspberry ripple (a flavoured ice cream) ? I looked up temale but think I would prefer one of the two I have described.

Keith has got this ripple
This ripple raspberry thing
Methinks he has been starved of it
And now he's on a binge

I can but only warn you both
That binging on such treats
Can have a fatal feetal end
Of reducing length of feet

Didn't you know this?....?

dk you've come down on me hard
I was taught all my alphabet at school
I learnt all the characters required for
Graffiti-ing team motto (which was cool)

From here I turned graffiti professional
And like others I didn't get caught
I learnt how to read and to write right
Hence this one did not go to court ?

This is not only an issue in the USA but here in the UK also where sport is given a disproportionate amount of TV coverage and in some schools overrides the academic curriculum. Little wonder the young kick balls whilst they can´t evern compose a sentence. Sport is important for many reasons but should never interfere or compete with academia. Your poem is one which will provoke quite some reaction, but your premise is true.

Thank you for this

Hi Keith

Brilliantly conveyed, reminds me of my Parents constant threat to make me wear red wooden clogs as a young lad, although this, thankfully, never came to fruition. I laugh about it now, but constantly tried to hide them for fear of being made to put them on.

Poor you in that get up! It's made for a great read now, however.

John,

You are right, together their impact is frightening. Where did this spate or plague of violence come from. It is not endemic to our culture? These types of gangs are common place in the USA but in England. It is of growing concern and increasingly so as it seems that no one can halt it.

Thank you for this expose

Hi Martin.

This is a flawless, mellifluous, engaging and ultimately life-asserting poem which seems to have delighted just about every WOL reader!

I thoroughly enjoyed the read and am glad I eventually stumbled upon it. (I am still bemused by the system whereby poems enter into and emerge from nooks and crannies in the edifice....)

I love that your poem blends perfectly with the accompanying picture.
I am a great fan of monochrome having being brought in a monochrome world, when the only colour we had as a kid was at the cinema and some early bad colour photography.
A marvellous portrayal from the opening lines of repeated wording right through to the end.
