More politization means more division--it benefits only a powerful few in the end.

Think of how politicians appeal to us based upon our opinions of the most polarizing ideals, and then proceed to run ungoverned by the populace once elected--we are easy targets for propaganda, and that's been proven time after time after time...

Rachel

PS
This is all said in the belief that laws should account for everyone, equally--that, in itself, should cause us to look more closely upon our judicial system than our elected officials.

PPS
Maybe this argument will come full circle to nonresolution if I continue...

Thanks all for looking in and commenting. This (repost) was meant to be a serious piece, but I guess my style is better suited for comedy.in my attempt to get the facts out, I probably trivialised the events, which wasn't my intention.
I came across this unsavoury character when researching my family tree. Three of his victims were Calladines, and I was looking for people with that sir-name in that area.
my intention when I wrote this was to bring the story back to life, so that people may spare a thought for his victims

here are some details

Hello Alan, thanks for the kind words about The Legacy. Was interested to hear you're a mycologist. I knew dead mens' trumpets (not the latin name) from Italy, where they dry them and sprinkle the powder on food, rather like truffles. I found a lot of funghi in Angus in my sister's wood, so took them home to look them up, and there found the amethyst deceivers! That book, however, said they were toxic! Here many people go looking for funghi in autumn especially, and there is a special office where you can take your catch to have it vetted, as people die every year from eating poisonous ones. Interesting you went to Tiscali - the wild flowers in Sardinia are wonderful late April early May. Entire roadsides of asphodel, orchids, French lavender, marvellous thistles, rock roses, rosemary, Aegean Lilies, witches fingers, Barbary nut, and later sea squill and those beautiful sea daffodils. A real Eden.
Thanks again, Jennifer

Yes OK. I take your point -

...and I'm an older man just now, and I'm too old for wars.
and we will like the folk we like, whatever be the cause
We all will hate the folk we shun
Not cat'gor-ising anywun.
People are just people, no need for modern laws.

Take a pinch of poetry , mix with nostalgia, stir vigorously ,add some pepper until the eyes water and give yourself a badge of total competence and inspiration to portray the times you describe so well Beno. That period gave us hope at a big price. Congratulations, much deserved.

By the way, the isles I believe you intended aisles not isles.

Enjoyable read.
Your descriptive powers are so good.

Good one, your wife staying out of the way. ???

This is great.
So many clever and beauty lines.
Really resonated with me the first two verses.
The last three were verses are very skillfully done.
I like:
Compulsion to be clockwise and clean
Fabulous filigreed filth
It could almost be two poems for me, as I found the feel of the first and second half different.

Sadly Fred rhyming is out
Rhyming is out of fashion
But if we lived in Shakespeare's day
It would be all the passion

I'm pleased you've made attempt submit
Of three rhymatic poems
Do not give up, not give up hope
You could still win, and show 'em ?
