This I like! Superior imaginative observations about the
finality of existence, our fears and our resistance to its
intrusion into our minds.
I'm reminded of the opening lines of a favourite poem from
the past:
Lady Life's a piece in bloom
Death goes dogging everywhere;
She's the tenant of the room,
He's the ruffian on the stair.

Speaking as someone holding that position and power -
I chuckled at your own observations - and would merely
comment -
Rest assured when you start that final journey
Your future is safe via "power of attorney"!

Consistent and constantly faithful in its depiction of the
various facets of a distressing condition. On a technical
side, I would prefer an alternative to the double use of
the word "take" in verse nine...but just maybe it fits with
the following line about being "repetitive"?

Successful in evoking a time and place that is known to
many of us with origins in or a familiarity with the countryside. I can almost feel the rain dripping from
overhanging branches and feel the mud squelching
beneath my feet.
In my mind, I am once again
Meandering down a "memory lane".

Frankly I thought that it was only a question of time before you were awarded POTW, and a well deserved one with this piece.
Many congratulations Becky

Some of my best work comes
From time spent in loo!
Where brains get rest from bums
And come up with something new...
Be it serious or a caper -
Dammit...where's that paper? :-)

W.S Gilbert would smile in recognition, with his famous
lampooning of the policies and activities of the established
influential sections of society. But perhaps an alternative
title might be "Unity of Purpose" and be seen as something
admirable to be aimed at and achieved.

John,
Thank you for your comment. Reality and tragedy were only round the corner. A further four articles follow this which continues to deal with various aspects of the war as seen through the eyes of poets at that time. Their moods and emotions change with the circumstances of their personal experience. I have endeavoured to use the work of those poets who were well known and others who seldom receive a mention.

Nice to read your poems as well as listening live to them(Lightbox on Thursday) Xoanxo. A well captured atmosphere, all soft edges and thoughts - almost ethereal. I enjoyed your tribute to a friend last week.
Great irresistible voice rendition and a refined guitar make it memorable!

Well worth the effort to put it into rhyme now wasn't it?
I think most who don't like rhyming poetry are simply jealous that they cannot put two words together.
Great job Becky. Already read this, but I read it again for good measure. ?

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say I had a ball on Saturday, it was an excellent event. I tried to load photos onto this page, but they went on my profile page instead - plus half of them are sideways (they were the right way up on my phone)!
I should have asked your permissions before posting them, so if anyone doesn't like their pic, please let me know and I'll take it down. I personally think you are a handsome / gorgeous lot and gave a completely professional performance at the Gallery.
Mark and Deborah have posted on social media over the weekend and were more than happy with the day. Katherine Rossetti was also very pleased with how popular the event was and thanked us for our time and support.
Good times!
I look forward to Randy's Poetry Trail Open Mic on Wednesday and hope to see you there.
Nic

Hi D
No I don't carry the sign a round with me. It was more about my presumption at calling myself a poet and leaving it to others to decide. It is probably getting a bit old now so I should perhaps change the profile picture.
Cheers
Martin
