To be serious. I like your style. It's 'conversational', bit like 'street language'. ?

Wendy. You speak the unfortunate truth to where society has descended. Individuals have no say. It is only by mass groups exerting pressure that things change. Sadly most people 'hide in their cozy little corners of safety', too afraid to speak out.
I take up on Brians 'Emagin'. To me I feel you've done this on purpose, but the purpose evades me?... ?

Marmite is something similar to Vegamin I think in the USA and Rioja is a Spanish wine. Both are delicious. You must be somewhere else on the globe I think.

Marmite is a small furry animal.
Rioja is a Spanish fly.

Hi David, yes I fear the despicable wanderings are only in my mind these days - but they are triggered off by the odd delving through dusty bookshops in the railway section.
This photo literally turned me to tears for some reason. The sense of hopeless pride is what did it . "Here stands" was like an attempt at a reference point, a memorial perhaps. John Betjeman has one, but like the unnamed soldier could we not pick a non entity in the eyes of the world and raise him as a symbol of dedication. No, I thought not.
I checked on Defford, and as you say, quite a significant place. Now only to be visited by car.
Thanks mate.
Cheers Jennifer, yes I think you have it there !

It's an interesting phenomenon that there are things in life we take for granted and accept until some smart Alecs come along and try to make us feel guilty. Maybe there's too much guilt in the world waiting to get in.
I don't worry about it personally, but a lot of people are highly sensitized otherwise there would not be the reaction to the poem Don - and now I have added to it.

There's one thing you forgot dk
To go with cheese and crackers
And that's a glass of nice cool wine
Without I would feel knackered
Dk you see my dilemma
'Tween use of crackers knackered ?
There's no way it would make sense
By using crackered knackered
I also like my poetry
As you can plainly see
Not always does it fit within
The rules laid down to me
What the heck...?

You say Brian we Aussies are behind the 8-ball
But MC's got you looking like pork ham
It seems you haven't done you're Brit homework
To know Robinson's make cordials not jam
To be kind I will make one assumption
You weren't raised on Robertsons stuff
And therefore cannot be expected
To know which is which....dunno what rhymes with stuff but you get my point ?

Robertson's jam was a staple product of my childhood -
its famous trademark becoming a victim of the race relations industry. Recently, a music festival up north
cancelled a Morris Dancing group who featured a tradition
of using black face (historical origins going way back and
nothing to do with race) because of moans from a race-
driven group who objected to the colour used. The organisers appeared to regret their decision but defended it
on commercial grounds.
PS - Robinson makes cordials and not jams.
PPS - I bet if some enterprising toy maker were brave enough to bring out a cuddly canine called a Gollydog, kids would love it!

The querulous question the responsibility of the ultimate
decision of "self-defence". It can only give succour to the
less scrupulous who harbour no such inhibitions and are guided by different lights. By all means hold that any such
decision is a last resort (probably quite literally) but allow
potential foes no leeway by waving a self-righteous banner
proclaiming "not by me".

Beautifully done. I think you’ve managed to take us through every emotion. And you’re right, there’s nothing wrong with using rhyme to express anything. (I find myself using internal rhymes a lot.) If that’s your style, go with it. You’re in good company. Plenty of awesome poets do. You’ve done a great job of using it meaningfully.
