Dali,
Oh for those far-off priest-ridden May procession days when we used to call this sort of stuff the results of the fall of man. And we were not so surprised when we shouldn`t have done it, but did it nevertheless.
It wasn`t so much that things were any better then - and still mysterious...but they were much clearer.

I have nothing but admiration for the courage &
commitment of anyone who is prepared to provide
tens of thousands of pounds per annum to any
small business. One wonders about the reasons
for its withdrawal. Business - publishing or otherwise - is business!
If the latter is now freed from constraint or
obligation that this might have imposed, then
good luck to its future successful endeavours,
whatever age or subject it is interested in.
Personally, I have my doubts about age-restricted enterprises in the areas of writing
and the arts in general. If it is good enough,
why should age be an arbiter of acceptability.

Ha ha! Thanks for the link to that inflateable you song. I loved it and what a lovely pair of nashers Tim Minchin has! I like things that give me a laugh. He reminds me Russell Brand. All men should have teeth like those two - and they should make you laugh with it :)

JC - you may recall commenting on my post "Fallen Angel" to the effect that you were waiting on the tune.
I have to tell you that I woke up early (too b....y early) yesterday morning with a tune
running through my mind which I somehow knew
would fit. The downside was getting out of my
warm bed to sing a version of the two into my
tape recorder...knowing that if I stayed abed,
I would fall asleep and forget it next time I
woke up. The price we creatives pay for our
efforts!!! Anyway, I am arranging for it to
be recorded by my usual excellent source and
hope to post the completed product on WOL in
due course.

It was an enjoyable evening as usual, but why was there no tribute to former TSE Prize recipient, Seamus Heaney? The evening should have begun with one of the PBS's recordings of SH reading.

Greg,
Yes; it was an extraordinary evening. Quite something when nothing but poetry fills the Festival Hall.
As I'm pretty sure McMillan said: who knows, next year, we might even be on TV!

The way that Western leaders regularly line up with an oppressive regime which continues with multiple illegalities is extraordinary. Sharon was one of the worst, with much blood on his hands.
