the poem was wrote by a poet, i was forwarded it by a friend and in turn forwarded it and posted it. id guess the poem was written last year and relates to the ongoing conflict in afghan our armed forces are involved in and the resulting aftermath is shown in this 1 small but moving story. there are many such stories. not just in this war but all of them...

We will stick our chins out for a possible thump
Steve, because we were enjoying this tasty morsel right up until the last line, and that thump we might get for our friendly critiscisms would be better applied to that line.
Don't shout too loud!xx

I've never found collage poems easy. For me the first 3 lines of the first verse go really well together and the first 2 in the second. I lose the flow thereafter - but maybe that type of poetry isn't supposed to flow.
I love anything to do with Burns though - so do hope you're going to do it at the Tudor on Thursday!

This isn't what I thought it was going to be - in subject matter.
Like the repetition and internal rhyme that gives it rythm - but don't like you writing another sad one :(
Let's have some more of your jingly jangly tingly tangly naughty stuff please!

You'll have to help me out with this one, Yvonne.
I didn't realise it was about a cat. I thought it was about a space in your bed. I was hoping to apply for the position.
...But if I'm next to a bloody cat I think I'll pass.

Do you write in italian and translate afterwards, or they come in English right away?

So sad to hear of Janet's passing away she was so supportive of all the poets at The Tudor, she was always welcoming and with a friendly smile, she will be sadly missed.

Very funny and pointed as ever, John. The original is a favourite song - not sure it'll ever sound quite the same after this (-:
I belong to an inclusive Anglican church. We feel disappointed that the hierarchy haven't gone far enough. On the other hand, a world-wide split now seems to be on the cards and no doubt they're taking that into account and don't like the view over the precipice.

No - you are correct in that Cynthia. Janet was a spiritualist/medium. I suppose some people might combine those skills with counselling.
Janet was a people person. I think she would be very touched to read the comments people have left here.

Very enigmatic. Nothing weightier than a dead animal. It's a great symbol for guilt. I like the understatement in your poem Ann.
If you were living in the North you wouldn't be seeing any dead sheep by the side of the road - they'd be up and in someone's freezer.
