Fascinating to read - full of resolve.
The romantic in me loves this...
'i was scraped off the road
and lifted in the warm arms
of someone
a man ill never see
as close to god as there can be'

Hi Shirley, just checking this out. Bang on with the sentiment. You've probably heard off the Big Issue magazine for homeless/jobless in the UK.
There is this wrestle with guilt each time we pass and for me probably many times in a day but no one is capable of giving every time.
Oddly enough, I was thinking of writing a poem from the perspective of the non-giver with all the thinking processes entailed.
It is a deep deep problem which our modern world has failed to solve for a catelogue of reasons.Your poem helps to draw these issues out in cameo style. Well done.

great poem. i love the last few lines. a womans paradox.
They feel her pulse and decide,
reign the veins in
and position the bridle –
take her to the water to drink
love these lines, the bit bites x

Hurray, she's back! And quoting boy's comic characters. Why does Minnie the Minx come to mind?
And 2001 - Top film. Sheer genius from Kubrick. the scene in which Hal is slowly disabled and starts singing Daisy is unforgettable.
How did I get on to that?

Wow - fantastic poem. Love the quiet anger shown within, and the absolute hypocrisy that surrounds the issue. 'keeps her sin visible' - one of many great lines.

People keep on telling me, 'we're all alone.' I'm all alone and think it's bullshit; I just can't see what it is that connects us all. I think I might be blind to something. Alors, c'est la guerre, non?

Hiya Lynn
re: 'Impossibility'; some of the stanzas work really well even though they don't scan. [p'raps 8 beats to each line?] However I did trip several times over,
'Soon we expect to meet again,
I wonder will it be with a kiss?'

I don't give a damn who puts what where for giggles and kicks as long as they enjoy each other. Does this poem betray a small mind? I don't think it does. Keep on rockin', John. Although why only 'batty boys and women skim newspapers from front to back' - which used to be the only way I could stomach reading NME - is beyond me. Eh bien, c'est la guerre.

It is wonderful..light, sweet and airy..when home-made the bought stuff does not hold a candle to it..served in a very thin glass tumbler, sugared and put into the fridge to cool it's magical..ok ok perhaps I am gushing a little too much but I do like it!

Enjoyed it, very sweet. Were you not tempted with "for morning rest"? To give the rhyme.I think the repetition of the title works very well. I'm less convinced by another smile another smile content.Just one would do me.
smile stretches like a cat - that's good and it's nice how the smile seems to be acting independently of its wearer.

I can't pretend to have much of a clue what this is all about, but I like some of the lines
a sinner full of scars and a faded brutal pale, for example. What I do know is that you ought to have a good reason to be ending lines on of, the, and - I can't see any.

There's a bit of a crowd here but I'd like to join in and agree with them, Ann. It's interesting that the poets who like it have such different styles themselves - you've written something here with a very wide appeal. Is it going in Anthony's Happy Competition?
