The two voices seem to me to be a woman looking at herself from the outside (as others see her) and then expressing how she feels (from the inside.) Not sure about Nev the Rev - made me think of Midsummer Murders for some reason! But I like the poem.

Thanks all. I posted this on PG a while back, Steve, and someone got very heated over me ending the poem on "super!"But it's exactly the kind of thing that's on the school stickers kids bring home these days.Super Listening! That's why it's there.

Tried free verse, but never sure if the reader is `getting` it.

Sometimes it performs well, voice (like the pictures sometimes) overpowering the words.

The final test is the words on the page, read down the page for what is meant...in other words: does it work, bit like comedy - if they laugh, you`re a comedian!

indeed Lynn
it is those who have paid in all their lives
and the shoddy way they are treated
that causes people to be so angry.

what a shambles!

our best to you

I thought of a modern day Joan of Arc, punishing her lungs with cigarettes, a martyr to some lost cause.

It isn't an easy poem to follow - there seem to be two voices - or at least disconnected thought. I enjoyed it though Stella - it is an interesting read and those last 4 lines carry a powerful punch.

Well I'm most surprised you didn't get him to rap one off John... riding on a tyre swing is quite tame by your standards.

Your story works well as an analogy for unrequited love. The picture of him sat alone at the end is such a sad one though.

Wow, leaves the reader wanting to know more - suggests a triangle of sorts. You have a typo in line 14 (view). I liked the mystery suggested in this.

Again, I like the simplicity of this, but I think that may be a little typo in the last line? Should 'no' be 'know'?

Great poem Andy - that photo is rather lush too.

My fave lines:

Autumn hadn’t
built itself up
as it normally did
but fell unexpected
from the skies
choking summer
until it fizzled away.

Can really feel it, nice one :)

Oh Chris P ... WELL DONE to you and you have such RAW and RARE talent and you certainly don't MINCE your words. I find all this SPAM rather hard to DIGEST. But two out of over nine hundred members is a POULTRY amount. I also find it hard to keep aBREAST of the tech world although we all need to gird our LOINS and KNUCKLE down to fighting this and not to CHICKEN out. If it gets iGNAWED we will be out of the PAN and straight in the FIRE. But enough of this TRIPE lets get BACK to composing GAMEs with words towards which we all have a LEANing...
