Luved the Kingfisher; I remember seeing one on the stream behind my house or did I ? Well it flew so fast just a flash of blue and it was gone but such joy just to see it :)

Anyone brave enough to verse-end Gestapo, Garbo, Bravado and Bardot deserves credit Ray.
Agree with the others. The last verse is high class.

A lovely descriptive Ann. I agree with greg though about the first bit. I'd have liked to have continued reading more like the first verse too.

Yes Greg - should have been expedition! (Comet Tails poem.)Thanks! I see what you mean about the first bit. I was originally going to call the poem Mother/Father, contrasting the quiet warm comfort (mum) to the more exciting adventurous (dad). May re-do. Ta again!

I like this, Ann, especially the final two lines, which are excellent. Should "exhibition" be "expedition?" I sort of wonder whether the first verse actually belongs in another poem, and you could write more about the actual firework night?

Good evening Lynn-you are getting better and better at these very entertaining short story/poems-The beginning and end(and very cleverly too!) are obviously where the deception is easy for the reader to see-only requires a little imagination added-a delicate but without doubt, all too common situ re affairs-well done!-Barbara Cartland eat your heart out! sleep well Mum Dye-see you on the morrow! Yes, Charlie is her younger brother. And they are both past it, apparently! She finished off Kabir, a previous paramour, I believe, though it is never spoken of. Though hinted at in an ancient poem wot I might post if you are very good! ;-) xx

Dave, thanks for your feedback on 'cryogenic'. I'm glad you found some interest in there, it was a bit of a stream of...type poem.
I like your 'PapaOscar' poem with the 'rarer/sierra' couplet being a fave of mine. 'Fear/Ikea' is another fun couplet, I have an Ikea/BnQ poem which I would like to share with you, maybe read it out if I see you at a reading. Pete.

Ta Ray - I hoped swivel heading might be an active description of what the owls were doing, but maybe it doesn't work. I've lost my cyvets! (And I didn't feel a thing!) I wrote this yesterday, on said beach - adding the missing the bus bit when I got home. 837 is the number of the bus! (Though I'm sure we can't possibly HAVE 837 buses in Cornwall - when you're waiting for one is doesn't seem like it anyway! Will consider the other suggestions, and thank you very much.

I like this,Ann. It's kind of a shame that the zoo is left abruptly, though. Here's my sugges- for what they're worth!
swivel-headed rather than swivel heading. The zebras bit is good, I think.
The 2nd verse is very good, except that rhythmically you could do with losing an animal and downturned.I liked "lumpy women".Still do-Ha!
"Edwardian pride nudging modern cubist drab" might be better?
Is 837 the number of the bus or its time?
