You write beautifully but it haunts me this poem, you remind me of the war poet Wilfred Owen

So, MC, you voted for
what relationship with Northern Ireland?
what agreement on fishing?
What tariff arrangements?
what arrangement on labour movements?
what arrangements on competition rules with the EU?
workers' rights, the environment, state subsidies etc?
who would referee disputes between Britain and the EU?
if you know what you voted for on these issues you'd better let the Government know, because they don't.
The reality is you voted for an ill-thought out wish. Not a plan.

Sorry JC - but you're well off the mark. We leavers knew just what
we were voting for and it wasn't about the money. After all, we were
told often enough that this was a once-only decision (so we had to be sure) - a fact blithely disregarded by those in the Remain ranks ever
since..

Thanks, Stephen. Four years on from the referendum and Leave voters still don’t know what they’ve voted for.
I’ve been trying to get rid of my pig in the poke. I’m encouraged I might be able to flog it to them.

Agree with Philipos. Leaving some interesting conjecture in its wake.

This is heart stopping and heart starting stuff.
I like very much how at first it worryingly seems as if you are thinking of letting go of yourself, perhaps even your life but then gloriously you are found 'rebuilding the heart which was stolen' and letting go only of whatever had troubled you before.

You are right on the money, John. The UK government still seem to be under the delusion that they are Australia with about 100 times the negotiating power. Maybe Keith Richard should be leading the talks.

JD.,
This poem speaks volumes to those who confuse love with sex. Today's age is responsible for advancing them both as being synonymous. Yet this poem offers hope as the writer has reached a place of discernment and come to appreciate the difference and expresses the hope for a love that will grow and not be diminished by transitory sex.
A poem with words of wisdom
Thank you for this
Keith

Very aptly titled. I particularly like the lines 'Oblivious of the gray clouds around her.. / She boasts her freckled brown coat as the best in town.' and 'Swirling around mixing all my colours.. / Emerges from it a unique tone.. / Which is truly my own.' and I feel inspired by them.
Personally I think the last few lines suffer from over-telling and the poem (for me - i.e. just one reader's opinion) has more power if it ends at 'Which is truly my own.'

I don't know if they have ornaments in the orient , you are funny.
I have lots of ornaments , too many .
I've never been to the orient but I want to go to Paris but I need a pair of strong shoulders to take me , not a pair of socks.
Hope you are well.
I still think you need a hat as well.
Hats are very useful for keeping your ears warm xxx

THANK YOU! In number order, completely coincidentally, of course. I think that you all deserve a Hanukkah prize, it is source if light for me, like the menorah, of a sort. It is my favourite poem.
Mad Girl's Love Song
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
I should have loved a thunder bird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)”
― Sylvia Plath
I just wish, wish, wish she'd given herself a chance to grow old.

I think we all do. I have an annoying and unusual illness, FND. It messes with my brain function, so I write stuff then very often completely forget about it. And so it was with this. Thank Aviva, were having a bit of a shit time of it right now and sometimes it pays to remind yourself of things you’ve said before. ❤
