Nicola, hello. Thank you for sharing “Blossom” with me. Thank you for your exceptionally kind words. I do not feel strong right now. At all. Just the opposite in fact.
Death is but a brief sleep.

Well done, Aviva. But don't stop now - more suggestions please.
I might have been a bit hasty because I've come up with some improvements myself.

Not sure comparisons with a time when a third of the world was coloured pink, we had the largest navy, a huge manufacturing base etc etc etc are suitable when we now sit as a 2nd world nation on the doorstep (but outside the door) of the world’s biggest trading bloc. Rather like Huddersfield Town we did indeed have a glorious past,
Indeed we won’t see it, Graham. Rees-Mogg said it would be 50 years before we would. On the other hand, I suspect we’ll see the “re-adjustment” in our time, God willing.

Thankyou, Aviva. “B for Mutton” is a definite improvement on my suggestion and was the entry for B in the Sebastian Faulks list.
I’m just wading my way through the book now, Stephen. It takes some determination as it’s a series of chapters which leap backwards and forwards through time and generations.
There’s only 25, Kev, in the angels’ alphabet - No L.

Thank you Vautaw, nothing more than a drive all poets have, to write, to create, to express with words what so often defining words alone cannot express. A way of adding space, silence, often the unsaid...Fortunately, as you know, there are many of us!!! ?

Spot on again, Ray. Remember Keith's bobbin kintting effort. A horrible kind of knitted snake appeared, which you then rolled into mats or pot holders or whatever. Does anyone remember making 'fortune tellers' with a square of paper, by folding it over 2 or 3 times so you had 4 little triangles? You wrote 'fortunes' under the flaps, asked your friends, (and enemies) for a number, and their fortune was what was written when you opened it after jiggling it for that no.Did that with a primary school class in the 90s and it was a huge success, all confiscated by their Italian teacher in the maths lesson!!!

Tangoed is not a local expression. Its from the advert 'you've been Tangoed' tango is a fizzy drink.
As you well know, when you've wrestled with someone whose fake tanned it can get all over you too. Also when meeting certain men one feels as if one is in the advert and one has been Tangoed. I'm sure very posh women from Poshland do not know what such things are as being good at counting ones money from Daddies bank they have never known what it is like to be Tangoed or to drink Tango. There endeth the lesson on being Tangoed.

Thank you Hope, Ghazala, Aviva. I would say if there's one overriding bit of, "Life wisdom," I've learned over the years, it's to ask more questions, then make your own mind up, because most, "Accepted wisdom," turns out to be a, "Best guess."

Without a doubt things are going to be messy JC, the EU will make sure of that. However, I think my children and grandchildren’s generation need something new to create and be proud of and not just become puppets of the Federation of Franco-German Europe. Who knows what they’ll make? One things for sure, you and I won’t see it!

I suspect that many Remainers have never known anything other
than the situation across the Channel. I am that much older and
can recall the lie from a certain prime minister that there would be "no loss of sovereignty". The lies and the deceit have continued
apace ever since, so that we now have a political entity that now asserts a need for an army!! No wonder a nervous Russia takes issue!
Let me remind younger readers of the words in a letter from a
founder/enthusiast Jean Monnet - they may ring a bell with what
has been experienced down the years since the "project" got well
and truly under way in a fearful but long-gone post-WW2 world.
"Europe's nations should be guided towards the super state
without their people understanding what is happening. This can
be accomplished by successive steps, each disguised as having
an economic purpose but which will eventually lead to
federalism.".
That seems plain enough for the basis for what has been "sold" to
us as a proud sovereign people under the guise of trade. Talk about bread and circuses to keep the mob happy!!

From one survivor to another you are one of the strongest people I know, let the light in this day comfort you. Let your weary bones be soothed and let all be well for you. Death is just a brief sleep and we are many. The evil in this world is quenched by us lightworkers

And now I remember the blossom on trees
The echoes that fell like our childish whispers
I remember the fear of running last
Running late
And when I touch blossom
Now I touch
It hold it
And wonder why I am crying xx

We will see if it happens. Yes some tribes do think kissing is disgusting. It is really. But I love kisses. Mmm Eskimos rub noses. And the tribes all have sex otherwise there would be no tribes. Sex is pretty silly too when you think about it from a logical biological point of view. I like your poem very much though it reminds me of one of mine. Keep safe

Nicorates sounds Latin. So Italian. Yes its clairaudience. And no youre not wierd. Maybe you were a Roman soldier or even a gladiator in a past life. The woman may have been from a land you were invading or a slave. Its interesting stuff isn't it. Nicorates. How wonderful.

Good point Nicola! This poem was inspired by an article I read about kissing traditions, where some tribes thinks it’s disgusting. I suppose with the pandemic, that philosophy is spreading! Good luck with your date. I hope you at least get a poem from it!

Blaming Brexit it on the war
Claiming people didn’t know what they were voting for
Wanting an extra referendum (best of three anyone)
These old chestnuts really only serve to show how Remainers believe the people who voted leave are just uneducated and generally disadvantaged.
I think you got it wrong once and you’re getting it wrong a second time.
It’s time to grow some and show the world what we’re made of. Any organisation that is so difficult to leave isn’t worth being a member of in the first place.

Hi Jennifer and Keith,
Thank you so much for your interest and thoughts on this rumination.
It occurred to me the other day that I've only ever lived on islands - the UK and Australia. Then I started wondering whether that has influenced my outlook on the world and its travails.
I concluded that, given that I have deep roots in both, it must have.
In spite of the ending, I have a homeland on both sides of the world.
All the best,
Chris
