I do drink room temperature tea, reminds me of my grandad, he always drank his tea like that. We both struggled with too hot tea. He was a good man and great grandad, quite literally, when my cousin got pregnant.

This sort of stuff isn't new to Royalty. Prince Eddy - back in
Victoria's reign - had all sorts of rumours surrounding him, while
the heir to the throne, later King Edward V11 - a much loved monarch confounding his critics and detractors - certainly had
a racy reputation that surely had his mother throwing up her
hands in despair at such goings-on. As for the current saga - a
certain Lady so-and so claims that the parties involved were
ready to benefit from participating in whatever allegedly occurred at
the time so one wonders about the reasons for this kind of
public pursuit of the actions of years ago in private. The likes of
Lily Langtry would no doubt raise a knowing eternally discreet eyebrow.

I do not "yearn" for the British Empire - but merely sought to put
some recent relevance in context. We tend to treat ourselves like
those old monks who loved to flog themselves into some state of "pardon us for our sins" perdition.
That said, I'm certainly in favour of a category award for sport and the arts - and go along with GS's comment about the groan-worthy
state of awards in general.

You always give us something to think about. This could be a conversation with us the reader or one with yourself. Once feisty, then self-detrimental. You've mentioned some of your insecurities before but you always somehow manage to rationalise them. I'm usually quite sceptical and do not immediately assume poems are autobiographical. If this is, when one views your associated tags, there is much to both be worried about and supportive of.
Whatever, you continue to weave incredible pictures Alexandra.

No. The poem is perfect and complete with just your two original verses. Sometimes (most times to me) a short succint is best. Additions can many times detract and mess it up if you know what I mean. It's why I like haiku. Short, sharp, shiny......

Thanks guys. I thought it was quite 'punchy' as-is, and extending it might detract rather than improve. However, I've come up with these verses, although I'm not sure they're needed.

Banging on your roof
What's that that you are yelling?
Stop it! bloody strewth!
I'm 'fraid I cannot help it
My master is the cloud
Shit! he's gone and just yelled out
That thunder's f.....ing loud

Lovely! Cats are so funny sometimes. When we were in a rented flat on hol, I always found a wee bird or a dead rat on the doormat in the morning! Luckily I get up before my husband, who would have had a fit. My friend has a white cat, also a cat flap. When she came back from her hol she found many different colours of cat dander, so it had invited friends in! She fixed that by putting a micro-chip on the flap and her pet's collar!!!!

Very nostalgic and moving. I think we all take our parents/grandparents for granted, but his arms and heart were wrapped round you, so you must have loved each other. It's just the egoism of youth unable to put itself in the place of a parent. Growing up isn't easy, either. Really liked this.

Hi Don! Very funny again! The Marx brothers were really fantastic, but one never sees any of their stuff now. Perhaps it has all faded, is not able to be shown? I am quite happy to say how old I am, but I must say I've started to notice that people tend to cross you off if they know you are really ancient. (now I've been and gone and dunnit)! I overheard a friend the other day, saying 'OK, she's .........., but she's very good company!' In fact most of my friends are a lot younger.
