Beautifully crafted, almost tangible. A work of poetic beauty.
Thank you

John, many thanks for these dispatches from your favourite Scottish island - such a source of poetic inspiration for you. It is always brilliant to read about the poets you admire and their work - but it has been great over the last three weeks to catch up with your own poems, too!

read "Fifteen"
excellent!
very poignant
how often men remember
the first girl that caught their eye
so young so innocent
so lasting in the heart.
I see one person said it was good to have you back
even if you did not post anything.
Maybe that's the secret for us all.
The less we post the more we are admired.
wink.

Kevin, John, Binte, Po, Lisa, Robert and Martin,
Thank you for your comments and the time you took to read and ponder on this, albiet brief poem. The more I think about human conflict the more I see that there are no victors only sheer misery for both victors and vanquished.
Thank you again
Keith

How unkind to speak of the fairer sex so when some just morph into miserable old moos and then rue the day they ever met the guy etc etc etc - I think of course about Cleopatra - who clutched an asp to her breast before she'd got undressed and the films they made about it. Women used to rule the world according to the Greek muses - just ask Don from Oz (and of course Thalia) - plus they used to drink all the asses milk perhaps with an additive or too just so as to spur them on and then they soaked in a tub full of the stuff while others had to scratch around full of grime. Where would we be without our history is a complete mystery to us all. I'm going into hiding now before that beefy bird around the corner tries to bosh me one. P. ?

A truly beautiful poem made all the better by Mae's reading. You have brought this poem to life. Although it was great to begin with, you have taken it to a new level Mae. It reminds me that all poems should be heard outside the mind at some point in their delivery
A very well done both

I'm glad you like the idea of the forest meet. Much more earthy probably! He will wait as long as are looking - we can dream.

Love the whole thing but the last bit about power stopped me short. Yes, poetry is vulnerability. We use it as healing but it also leaves us at the mercy of others. May all you meet be merciful. Your work is wonderful.

As we have come to expect from you Alexandra, a fascinating idea!
Most people would say words spin around in their heads, so bringing them down to one's throat and stomach is an interesting departure. Language can of course be both nourishing and indigestible. We should all choose our words carefully.
Thought provoking as always.

Mouth corners lifting
Teeth white and bright
Eyes start to sparkle
Gosh! What a sight
While you are in daylight
I am in night
The planet rotates
That's why you're in light
Well I'll be.....

That's what I was thinking Don, a mighty oak. We already have some planted in Sherwood forest Land of Robin Hood!
Good job you came along with that little ditty before it got all morbid in the craveyard!

Ruth I have a tree picked out
A mighty oak one day
At present it's a little twig
A little twig so gay
When I choof off my mortal coil
(An hour before I do)
I'll whack this oak a'top me
Say toodleoodleoo
My fans for all eternity
(Cos oaks they grow that long)
Will bow to poet Silly One
Who always got things wrong
boing...boing....
