Laura,
Congratulations and well deserved for a highly imaginative poem.

You better look out it's a bugger
It catches you when you least expect it
And clings like a leach, it's a hugger.......

Again I will state this morning...
Always be proud of who you are!
Don, abbreviated as D., is an honorific prefix primarily used in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and the Philippines. Don, and dom, is derived from the Latin Dominus; a master of a household, a title with background from the Roman Republic in the Antiquity.(Wikipedia)

Thanks Everyone! You should always be proud of who you are.
Rose, I was always told there is some Native American blood from my mothers side. She was 1/2 Italian and allegedly French-Canadian and Huron Native American. There is no-one left on her side to confirm so only a DNA test will tell. My father's brother recently had one done and we are apparently a smidge Somalian also...! Thank you for noticing! Ultimately, it's not what 's in us that makes us. It's what we put forth.

From poet's heads
to seeing eye
hard to believe
we so contrive
We write despite
a reason why
the poem part truth
and part a lie.

Oh Don good on you for trying to get fly
Fun 'n' Frippency (ah the old penncys I remember them well) and defy
This sad bad earth's gravity.
Even if like Icarus your wings get scorched
At least you lit a noble torch
Trying to dispel the gloomy doomy waves
That around us swell.
A smile, a frown a dance around.
A joke, a jest, a sober quest.
Life is short, death is sure
Sing sad, sing glad but don't ignore.

Hi Laura, really liked this one: It's clever (but not too clever) and profound at the same time. Thank you for this excellent piece.

Hi Lisa. I thought you looked a bit Native American'ish! but hey, thank god those, over-sexed over here yankee doodle dandlers WERE over here just when we needed them to prevent Adolf from kicking our butts.
A lot of anti-Amercan thinkers need to remember that.
Enjoyed the read mucho

Hi Laura. Congratulations on being awarded POTW. It was well deserved.
We all post on WOL for the same reason, and that is to get our work out there and read by as many people as possible. As the week goes on these posts move further and further down the list and become more difficult to find.
Not-so the POTW, that stays the first thing that you see when you log onto the site, and remains so for a whole week. It's a nice accolade to receive, and it's ridiculous for anyone to suggest that you shouldn't accept it.
I don't see POTW as a competition, but even if it was, what's wrong with that? People do enter poetry into competitions. It's another way to get your work out there.
Sorry for rambling.
What I meant to say was congratulations, loved the poem.
Cheers Kevin

I had to google translate this one and even the automated translation is beautiful - 'you created the world / you intend to ruin it". Glad I took the time. Of course, a translation, particularly one that doesn't mirror the music of the original cannot do justice to the rhythm and rhyme structure of the poem.

Tommy, when I read the title "Semi tone", I am immediately thinking "half step". That smallest musical movement, imagined in a kiss, that gentle leaning in. Good stuff.

There’s really only one way to find out if this sentiment still holds with the public, 3 years on from when it was taken, MC. You may still be right. Or you may not. The reluctance of Leavers to prove their case implies to me that they fear the latter.

JC - I'm only too aware of when I am being deceived/lied to,
hence my determination to bring to attention the activities of
who led this nation into being shackled to a political power-driven
entity allowed to take precedence over our parliamentary sovereignty (now being bandied about as some corrupted reason adopted by various occupants of Parliament to thwart our departure from the EU). The lies you refer to appear to target the sum on
the Brexit bus...still argued about: some saying it's less...some
saying it's actually more. In point of fact, it can't be denied that the
UK is a very substantial contributor to the EU - an organisation that
seems resistant to proper examination of its accounts (which, of
course, includes our money!) and threatens members who go
public with penalties/loss of generous pensions etc. etc. for
their temerity in publicising the less than democratic basis for
its existence and activities.
Remainers may wish to continue to cavort to its tune! The rest of us are happy to ignore the invitation to the dance. ?

In my opinion Don, there is nothing wrong in putting seriousness on the back burner for a while, after all, I think we need to remember the freedoms of speech as long as it doesn't aim to be personally offensive which this is not. Thank you. Jemima.

Now dk you've captured my interest
(Was just about to hop into bed)
You have a great habit of doing this you know
Just forgive me if I suddenly go zzzzzzz
Now where was I? Oh yes
I have been in hospital dk
(I fell off a ladder, near dead)
But Caroline the nurse pampered, petted me
She even looked after me in bed
Just joking dk. Thought you'd ask for her next time hey?
I did experience one piece of torture though
This male nurse completely body washed me
Until I regarded myself as a Roman
Being pampered by my slave, did he be
zzzzzzzzz zonk........

Oh yes, for sure, ha ha. I have some elements of modern war with imagery from crusaders and it's kind of a take on war in general, the death inflicted by those who believe in a cause. But you are right, some of the fun in poetry is trying to make something that makes just enough sense to create meaning while being lost in confusing imagery. All the same, thank you for the comment!
