Interesting how important poetry is in other societies, compared to the UK or elsewhere in the Anglosphere.

Great poem Abdul. We had thick snow here last week. I went out and stood in the huge flakes as they came down. It felt as surreal as the year itself - but a lot more exciting (and hopeful).

This poem is rich in its personal and spiritual content. Kindred spirits are few and far between. To find this complimentary soul can only bring immense delight.
A poem of great beauty, expressed with gentleness and faith
Thank you for this

There are still rumours that it was known about through the code-
breaking of the time but it gave Roosevelt the opportunity to put
America into WW2 via a popular mandate. Wasn't it Japanese
Admiral Yamamoto who prophesied that Japan had woken a sleeping
giant? The president's words placed him alongside Churchill in
war's pantheon of powerful oratory: "December 7th 1941 - a day
that will live in infamy".

Thank you Stephen. I'm really happy that you took the time to comment, much appreciated. It is one of the poems that I sometimes question why did I write this at all, why did I write it as I did, etc. Because the theme or personal purpose is quite obscure so it didn't really fight its way to be written, it just sort of fell onto the page but over the years apart from a few words here and there it stayed more or less the same. And a bit like a special memory, or song, the more I met the poem the harder it became to work out whether it was truly good or just familiar.

Paul, I have missed your words of wisdom and encouragement. My life isn’t mine to take. I tried. I am coming to the end of something significant in my life, a season of being if that makes sense. I do not know what lies on the other side, but I must go through this.

Aviva, I appreciate your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am allowing myself to feel and experience what is real to me right now. I have every intention of coming out of this, not as I once was, but as I’m meant to be. What once was is dead and will never come back.

This is a striking and insightful poem describing the problem with such care and effectiveness. Even though the poem doesn't progress on to solve the problem, I think that some of the lines of the poem hold clues (by reverse reasoning) to what the solution might be. I certainly hope that you don't end up following the voices' advice.

Thanks to all for the comments and the likes. I desperately want the vaccine when it becomes available and am in awe of the scientists who have made it possible, but I think the "light at the end of the tunnel" metaphor has become a bit too much of a cliché (one I use myself, I might add).
Life is too complicated to be reduced to the difference between night and day. I'm tempted to talk of "shades of grey" but that's too much of a cliché as well.
