Ah, someday they will (they probably already could if they wanted to) perfect the labels on cans to be miniature screens paper thin and flexible but more importantly with little video clips. And then my friend you will be able to pick up all the red lips you want and ripe bodies by the can full. It will be the same time in the future when trading standards no longer apply, you'll get your longed for produce home but when you open it up it will be peeled plum tomatoes and baked beans.

Because there is no matter what harm is suffered
You cannot imagine yourself down to dust or ended
At some future moment perhaps, but not in this moment
amidst the maelstrom of your own recollections.
You can be injured, unharmed, or ripped to shreds
And all will continue on in re-run after re-run
even if you are not running.
Or you can be stood tall like a beacon of indestructability
impossibly tall, and invincible, accepting that
the central power of your mind is you
and your curious eye.

The other one, Paul. Very probably, MC. I seem to recollect hearing that the foundations of the Hammersmith Flyover serve as the final resting place for some of the London underworld.

What about women who die their hair all the time? Or wear wigs? Cher wore wigs. I think I've dyed my hair more times than Madonna. I've been a red head, brunette and blonde, even jet black once, tee hee

Thanks for your kind comments. You have each shed new light onto it too, for which I also thank you. I myself do find the poem soothing but I want to let the poem speak for itself since it seems to have more to say than I realised at the time.
Thank you also to all those who have clicked 'Like' for this poem. Much appreciated.

JC - The word "evidence" has various degrees of meaning - direct/
indirect/circumstantial. The sum total presented to a court may or may not constitute "proof" (in criminal cases: beyond a reasonable doubt; in civil cases: beyond the balance of probabilities (here
in the UK), and decisions about these have often themselves been subject to grounds for appeal. Hence, my point about the
vital Supreme Court role as the ultimate arbiter of whether these
elections have been held in accordance with the strictures of the
Constitution. Procedures become paramount. I was interested
that machines used were found to have been connected to the
internet - denied by those responsible but open to challenge on
technical grounds about the truth of that denial. It's this sort of
breach of the Constitution that becomes relevant. There is still a way to go yet before a resolution either way will be achieved.

Reminds me of that line from the editor of The Shinbone Star in John Ford's fine Western "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance": When the legend becomes fact, print the legend. Hyperbole,
unattributable quotes and half-truths are staples of the trade.
There is no such thing as an unbiased media - just less or more,
according to source and intent. The trick is to understand that - and mentally filter what's on offer. Once, years ago, I wrote to an
editor of The Observer, challenging the content of a big article by
its team of investigative reporters. My effort got no response from
the editor but I did get an abusive reply from the two journalists
concerned that failed to answer my numerous reservations about
what was written and published. And that was long before the
term "fake news" arrived on the scene. All good fun but hardly likely to encourage whole-hearted trust in the reliability of the business.

A wise and enjoyable dissertation on the passing pf the years and
how they can make a difference to how we live our lives if we are
perceptive enough to seek the positives on offer in the process and
benefit accordingly. I recall a saying from my own youth: There's no fool like an old fool. Heaven forbid that to be the result of living a life.

Love this poem Rob. It reminds me of one of my favorite passages Colleen McCullough wrote in Thornbirds...
“There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to outcarol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain… Or so says the legend.”

But how much better if it were possible for those who were dissatisfied to get a refund
Edit - No, actually that gets quite dystopian - imagine having to redo each year (or decade?) if you weren't sufficiently satisfied at the end of it.. whilst everyone else moves on. It would be pretty chaotic stuff and how children fit into this world? probably in central facilities so that re-youthing parents won't be too devastating for them.
